Thank you for this unforgettable experience. 🙏🏽 We were three girls and did a 6 day safari with them. The guides were amazing to us, really professional and experienced. They took care of every detail from the arrival to Arusha Airport until the end of the Safari. We explored Kilimanjaro, visited a Masai village with a really warm atmosphere and spend three days in Ngoro Ngoro and Serengeti National Park. They did everything they could for us to see every animal and I feel like we really didn’t miss anything. If you are looking for an amazing experience you have found the right team! 💯

Daniel was our guide on a 6 day safari in Serengeti among others.
You cannot ask for a more comitted guide. He brought us outstanding experiences due to his enormous knowledge in the wild life of Tanzania.
And he also got the right amount of social knowledge, that makes it a pleasure to be close together for such a long time.
Daniel, you were great. We would ask for you at Any time. Thank you.

Amazing hike at altitude above a blanket of cumulus clouds, across the moorland on the Shira Plateau. Stunning views of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Kalulu and CP were excellent guides. They met with us prior to our tour to confirm our hopes/needs/gear and to tell us how to combat altitude sickness. On the day, we enjoyed a ‘surprise safari’ of giraffes, antelope, zebras and monkeys on the way to the mountain. The tour included a hearty breakfast at the gate and a delicious lunch on the plateau. Pleased to say we had no issues with altitude sickness. Next time, the whole ascent! Highly recommend this trip and Rhymes of Wilderness.

We went on the Summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The guides were very competent and precisely informed us about all the things, including risks during the tour. Also a big thanks to the rest of the crew (porters, chef, waiter,…)! Without them we wouldn‘t have made it to the top. We absolutely enjoyed the trip even though it was quite tough. Another thanks to Kalulu who organized everything. We had a great time. I‘d definitely recommend it.

Went out to visit my brother who lives in Arusha and top of our to do list was hike Mount Meru. I had researched Kilimanjaro and discovered how expensive it is plus the many and varied safaris and how expensive they are. We discovered we needed to be accompanied by an armed ranger to do Meru and were given the name of one of the best working at the park (brother has contacts in the safari industry). This guy then recommended Kalulu and Rhymes to guide us, carry stuff and feed us on the way up. We ended up paying a fraction of what others had been charged and seemed to have the best guide and a lot of attention from the ranger. Kalulu owner/director of Rhymes also guides Kilimanjaro and organises safaris throughout Tanzania incl. Zanzibar. What made this company exceptional in my opinion was value for money plus local people running their own company (felt like we had the inside track the whole time). Mount Meru is a must if you're in the Arusha area for a while (and are reasonably fit). It takes a few days (2 nights minimum on the mtn). You need warm weather clothes for the lower slopes and cold weather clothes for the final ascent (-5 at the top when we went). Our guide took care of everything else ..more food than we could eat, jackets, sleeping bags etc. Can't recommend the Mountain and these guys more highly. I'm planning (or rather they'll be planning) a lengthy camping/walking safari next time I visit ...through the badlands of Lake Natron and the Ngorongoro Crater area.

I have climbed Mt Kilimanjaro 3 times, so I decided to climb Mt Meru as a change of pace. I joined another group that was using Rhymes, so I had not interviewed them or had any dealings with them prior to beginning the climb. The staff who went up the mountain were very nice people--sociable and polite--but they only provided 1 litre of water per day, per person, which is way below the recommended 3 litres per day. I suffered greatly on the summit day because I drank all my water on the way up and had nothing to drink on the way down. Staying hydrated is an important aspect to success on the climb, as well as keeping your body in good condition.

The national park supplied a ranger with a gun, but there were many times that our group was so spread out that the ranger was an hour or so ahead of us and could offer no protection at all. As far as I could tell, there were maybe 2 official guides from Rhymes that were with us--one always bringing up the very rear, and another somewhere else, but there were several members of our group who had no one with them at all, and they occasionally got lost because they couldn't see which way the group in front of them had gone. I was in one of those groups, so this is not just hearsay.

When getting ready for the summit, they supplied headlamps to only one-half of the group and positioned us so that every other person had a headlamp. Therefore, if you were not lucky enough to have been given a headlamp and also not able to go as fast as the person in front of you, you found yourself completely in the dark as you tried to make the technical climb. Trying to see where the hooks and chains were, and where the edges of the rock ledge were, was extremely difficult if you weren't close to the person in front of or behind you. That was an unnecessary risk. How much more costly could it have been to issue each person their own lamp?

Some of the equipment they supplied was not suitable, e.g., boots so heavy that it was almost impossible to walk after the 2nd day because your muscles hurt so bad. It was rainy season and they did not cover any of our bags during the climb, so everything got wet and then we would have to spend time trying to dry things out.

I realize the company has very good ratings, so I can only assume that the group I joined must have been trying to do things less expensively, but no tour operator should agree to take people on a trip that will endanger lives just for the sake of saving them a little money. Bodies need enough water to climb successfully. They need to be able to see where they are going at night so they don't fall off the mountain. And they need enough guides/rangers to keep everyone safe from the wild animals and not get lost in the process.

Climbing Mt Meru could be a wonderful, challenging experience under the right circumstances. The views are breathtaking, and the up-close experience with the animals was a once-in-a-lifetime thing I'll never forget. So I would definitely recommend the climb, but under different circumstances.

First of all we always appreciate feedback from our Clients . Thankfully TripAdvisor gives the opportunity for both parties to be heard and those following TripAdvisor can make an informed decision . Please note , never in all our Year's of Business have we ever received such negative comments and remarks such as your's. Readers should be aware that Rhymes holds a 100% Safety Record . We are a well established Company with excellent Credentials in respect of Safety . We pride ourselves with our Safety Record . We NEVER have and NEVER will put lives at risk . Therefore , we have no words strong enough to express our disgust at your statement that we " put lives at risk " . So we are glad at this opportunity to reply to your "assumptions " . Your Review does not reflect an accurate account of what actually happened prior to and during this Trek of Mt Meru . You state that you joined a Group and did not " INTERVIEW " Rhymes or had any dealings with us prior to this Trek .. You did indeed join a Group , a Group of YOUNG People from Training for Life from Moshi .. You Sir are very familiar with this Organisation so it wasn't just a random group you joined . This was a well organised Trek , with numerous briefings before this Trek commenced .. You Sir did not attend even one of these briefings , despite the fact you were informed they were taking place . If you wanted to " INTERVIEW " us , surely you would have made it your business to attend at least one of these meetings . You say you had no contact with Rhymes prior to the Trek . Has it slipped your mind Sir about the phone call Rhymes made to you early in the week when we noted that you as a Climber hadn't showed up to the final briefing the Saturday prior to the Climb . Has it slipped your mind the personal conversation I had with you regarding the Trek , as to what equipment you required , size etc .. How would I have known what size boots you took unless I spoke to you . ( oh , they were uncomfortable , weren't they , but at least they fitted you as I got the size you told me ) .... You say we didn't provide enough water for the Trek . This is untrue . An ample water supply was provided each day of the Trek .. One of our Porters descended each day to bring fresh water supply back to the Group to refill their water containers . You say the National Park provided 1 Park Ranger with a Gun and he was at least 1 Hour ahead of this Group .. You say that as far as you could tell that there were "MAYBE " 2 official Guides with Rhymes We are surprised you noticed how many Guides " MAYBE : were with Rhymes as you and your 2 Adult Colleagues were clearly not comfortable with the Group of young people and decided from the onset to go ahead of the main party .. At no time was the Ranger 1 hour ahead of the main Group , if he was he would have been with you and your 2 Colleagues as you had decided to go off ahead on your own . You and everyone else were told at the foot of Meru that the group Trek to-gether with the Park Ranger . For whatever reason you didn't stay with this group of young people and took it upon yourself to Trek way ahead of this Group . Has it slipped your memory the talk we had one of the mornings before we set out for another day's Trek .. You and your 2 Adult Colleagues stated that you wanted to go ahead of the main Group . You knew there was only 1 Park Ranger for the Group . What would you have preferred us to do Sir , send the Park Ranger off with you and leave the main Group of young people exposed to Danger . You say several members of the Group got lost and they had no Guide with them , that they couldn't see the group in front , that you were in one of those groups . Sir , you couldn't see any group in front of you as the main group was behind you all the time. You and your 2 Adult Colleagues were first on that mountain . You didn't want to stay with the Group . You didn't tell us why , you just went on ahead each day . You severely criticise the Company regarding Summit Night and the lack of head torches . Each climber , including yourself had a head torch . What you are not saying is that you and a few others failed to follow instructions and bring extra batteries just in case the batteries ran out . But then again , maybe you missed those instructions because of YOUR FAILURE to show up at any Briefings or to " INTERVIEW " us prior to the Trek . You complain about the Boots Rhymes gave you to climb . As a climber of Kilimanjaro it surprise's us that you didn't have your own Boots , however , had you attended our briefings with this Group at the Training for Life Centre you could have tried and tested the boots , just like all the Young People did , but no , you wait until the start of the Trek , you get your boots ( correct size , just like you told me on the phone ) and off you go up the Mountain as fast as you could .Its not surprising your feet were sore and your muscles hurt so bad . You really should have told us at the time as we had plenty in our First Aid Kit to ease your hurting muscles . You say you know our Company has very good ratings - the only honest thing you said - and you "ASSUME " that the Group you joined must have been trying to do things less expensively and that we as a Company should not agree to take people on a Trip that will endanger lives just for the sake of saving a little money . Your "ASSUMPTION " is very much "WRONG " Sir . We have been working with Training for Life for the last 4 years . At all times every Trek has been fully discussed and worked through with them and us . Costs agreed between them and us . Every aspect of the Trips discussed fully between them and us No skimping on costs as you imply . Not once have we received a complaint . To state that we endanger Lives to save money is an insult to our Company . OUR COMPANY HAS A SAFETY RECORD OF 100% I will end by saying THANK GOODNESS Clients we take on Trips always liaise with us fully prior to any Trip and ALWAYS follow instructions we have in place .. Oh Sir , there was water heated especially for you to wash when you came down from Mt Meru , was the shower not hot enough for you - is that why you decided to write such a negative review . I would also like readers to know how I've tried to make contact with you but you won't take my call .. Regards Rhymes of wilderness

We spent 2 weeks in Tanzania, one week for safari and one week for climbing Kilimanjaro.
Our guide Frank was perfect and we recommend him. He gives us a good positivity, perfect advice to succeed in this special adventure.
If we had to start again or to go back to Tanzania, Frank will be the first person we will contact.

To make it short, without the assistant guides I wouldn't have made it to the summit of Kilimanjaro, and without Frank, I wouldn't have made it back down, simple as that :)

We were 14 at 2100m and 14 at 5895m, I can't really ask more of a guide!
Except maybe a leopard or two... ;)
