When I decided to go to Tanzania I opted to do a 5 day/ 4night safari to Tarangire,Manyara,Serengeti & Ngorongoro and stay in lodges as I was travelling myself .
After emailing approximately 20 safari companys back and forth, I happened to come across Suricata Safaris in Arusha.I checked out there reviews and was very impressed how highly recommended they were.
I contacted Hilary(the owner) through WhatsApp and he put together an itinerary for me and information on the lodges I could stay at.I got a good impression from hilary, as he was easy to communicate with and always replied to any questions or concerns I had. I knew this was the right company to book with!
On arriving at Kilimanjaro airport from Scotland, I was met by
Mandela who is one of the safari guides. He was very easy to talk too and made me feel very comfortable. He drove me to my hotel in Arusha which was included in the safari price.
The next morning Hilary came to the hotel to meet me and I settled the cost of my safari with him. He was an extremely nice young man.My guide was going to be Mandela which I was pleased about as I had met him the night before when he collected me from the airport. I had chose to join in a group safari as I was on my own but Hilary gave me my first 2 days safari as a private one which was great to have the jeep to myself. Mandela was an amazing guide who is very experienced and knowledgeable about the parks and wildlife. He made sure I got to see so many animals, I was very impressed and blown away with the experience. The last 3 days I was joined by 5 students from the Netherlands and Belgium. They were a great bunch of people and we had lots of laughs.
The lodges I stayed in at night were all excellent with great staff & lovely food.
When my safari was over I had another night in Arusha which was also included in the safari price.
The next morning Mandela collected me from my hotel and drove me to the airport to get my flight to Zanzibar.

I have to say if anyone is looking to book a safari in Tanzania, you dont have to look far. Suricata safaris are a professional well organised company who look after there clients amazingly. Mandela is an incredible guide who is excellent at his job and a very competent driver. He made sure we all felt comfortable & he excelled in making sure we got to see all the wildlife we wanted. I've had the most fantastic safari experience and that's thanks to hilary and of course the best guide in Arusha, Mandela!! I highly recommend Suricata Safaris and wouldnt hesitate to book with them again in the future. Until next time..

I honestly do not know where to begin on describing the incredible, magical experience I had with Suricata Safaris.
From the moment I booked, every single tiny detail was taken care of. I was made to feel comfortable and knew instantly that I was in capable hands. No question or request was too big nor too small.
Hilary who dealt with my booking, met us at our hotel and briefed us on what to expect. He really put myself and my boyfriend at ease and explained the trip to us in more detail.
On the day of our trip Hilary was in reception waiting to see us off and to show us the truck we would be riding in for the next 3 days.
This truck was HUGE! Very comfortable, spacious, clean and safe. He also introduced us to our guide and driver.
Our guide was a wonderful man called Frederick and I cannot stress enough how lucky you will be to have him as your guide, he has the vision of an eagle!
Not only has Frederick got exceptional sight, he is easy to get along with and such a laugh. He knows EVERYTHING there is to know about The Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater and has the highest respect for the parks and ALL the creatures big and small that reside there.
He assured us that we would see the Big 5 and boy, did we see the Big 5!
We saw everything we were hoping to see and much much more.
My dream has always been to see the Big 5, but mostly to see elephants and I must of seen around 50 of them.
The accommodation was also fantastic. We had the budget package, which meant camping for 2 nights. I'm not much of a camper and wanted to experience at least 1 night of luxury.
So on our first night we upgraded to Ang'ata Lodge. Your personal lodge consists of a 4 poster bed and ensuite bathroom. The bed was so comfortable and we both had a great nights sleep. There is also a restaurant where you have breakfast and dinner. When the sun sets it is extremely dark so you have a member of staff from Ang'ata Lodge chaperone you from your lodge to the restaurant. We felt that this was a little over the top, but they obviously know the animals and setting better than we do and they certainly don't want 2 drunk Brits wandering off in the wrong direction.
We actually preferred the 2nd night, which was proper camping. The tents were spacious inside, clean and to my relief very comfy. As we were part of a group tour it was nice sitting round with everyone at dinner and then seeing each others sleepy faces in the morning over breakfast.
Suricata Safaris cater for all types, so if like me you need a little bit of luxury they are willing to go above and beyond.

Suricata Safaris made our dreams come true on that trip and I highly recommend them to anyone thinking/wanting to do Safari. It was an absolute pleasure meeting and dealing with them and will definitely use them again if ever I am back in beautiful Tanzania.

We had an absolutely incredible experience during our 4-day safari in February 2020. After carefully reviewing offers from over 20 Safari organizers we finally settled on Suricata Safaris, based on the positive reviews, fair price and quick & friendly correspondence with owner Hilary.

Going on a safari in Tanzania has been on our bucket list for years and this tour exceeded all our expectations. We visited Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro and saw hundreds of thousands of animals including the Big Five, giraffes, hippos, zebras, impalas, gazelles, warthogs, cheetahs, hyenas, wilbeasts, pelicans and many more. Our extremely knowledgeable and professional guide and driver, Ezekiel, did an outstanding job in spotting the animals, taking us safely through muddy roads and puddles to get the best view of the animals and answering all the questions we had (on several occasions Ezekiel also assisted other drivers that were stuck in the mud). The lodges and campsites we stayed at also met, and often exceeded, our expectations.
Suricata is a serious and professional company and the deposit and full payment went smooth with their payment portal (beware of some added % to the fees if completing the payment online).

We would highly recommend Suricata Safaris for anyone interested in an exceptional experience!

I have dreamed of coming to Africa and experiencing the wildlife since my childhood and I can truly say this Safari was a dream come true. I found Suricata during an extensive online research and booked a 4 day camping trip for 2 joining with the possibility of joining other groups. The offer had the best price for what we wanted to be included and the reviews were superb. After returning from our safari yesterday I can say only second these reviews. Everything was well organized and we felt safe and well taken care of. Our Chef spoiled us with delicious, freshly cooked meals. Our group of 6 was mostly vegetarian and this turned out to be no issue at all! Our guide Rocky was amazing. Always available, super lovely and sharing his knowledge about wildlife and the Tanzanian culture. He was the heart of the trip and thanks to his superb driving skills and great navigation we were lucky to experience more than I could ever have dreamed of! I can highly recommend Suricata Safaris to anyone looking for a well organized trip ready to enjoy the beauty that this country has to offer! Asante sana again for making this one unforgettable experience!

I don't usually leave reviews, actually this is my first but my girlfriend and I just went on the Suricata 5-Day Mid Range Group Tour and it was amazing. I have been on other safaris in Tanzania, and to many of the same parks, Suricata was my favorite. From the beginning Hilary responded to my inquiry quickly and was very helpful insuring our safari was everything we wanted. The safari included airport pickup and drop off and hotel stay in Arusha the night before and after the safari. Hilary was met us at the hotel prior to the safari to explain everything and answer and questions we had. The Safari it self was great, our guide Ezekiel was everything you could ask for, has a genuine love of animals and a serious knowledge to compliment it. At multiple times he was able to use that knowledge to situate us in the perfect position to have a group of male lions walk directly by our car or watch a leopard climb out of a tree. His extensive knowledge was also very useful when an aggressive male elephant wanted to tip our vehicle. Ezekiel also was skilled at all sorts of problem solving that ensured our safari was smooth and enjoyable, plus his friendly and lively personality were irreplaceable. The accommodation was excellent, staying in either private rooms at a lodge or private semi-permanent tents at tented lodges. Suricata cooks delicious local meals and provides everything needed for the perfect safari. As for animals, we saw it all, and lots of it, you know it is a good safari when at the end of it you are not excited about seeing most of the animals because you have see them so much. I would highly recommend any safari you are interested in with Suricata. Great experience beginning to end.

We had a great time with Suricata Safaris on our three day Serengeti/Ngorongoro safari. Communication with the company was great - Hilary was fast and thorough with answering all the questions I had. Everything, from airport pick up to airport drop off and all meals were arranged and included in the price, making it super easy to just relax and enjoy. Hilary even met us at the hotel the day prior to the safari and met with us afterwards to wrap up the trip.

Our guide Ezekiel was sooo knowledgeable - you can tell his passion for safaris/animals when he speaks. There wasn’t a single question we had that he couldn’t answer.
Kudos to him for being able to answer our questions, look for animals, and drive us through muddy roads all at the same time.

We decided to upgrade to the lodge option with Ang’ata Tented Camps. We loved the Serengeti camp, but the Ngorongoro camp did not have as many amenities. It seems they might still be in the process of being built. They did have great customer service, though, and was fine for a night to lay your head.
Other people in our group camped, however, so we were able to see their campsites, and we probably would have been comfortable doing that as well if we wanted. For the price we paid for the tented camps, I think we would have preferred to camp, however that’s just personal preference!

Only tip I can think of off the top of my head is to bring earplugs, because the animals get very loud at night!

Experiencing my first safari with Suricata Safaris was the best decision I’ve made in a long time! We did a three day-safari to Serengeti and Ngorongoro and chose to sleep in tents at the campings.
I flew to Kilimanjaro international airport and Suricata safaris made sure there was someone there to pick me up and drive me to our first accommodation in Arusha before the safari began (this was included in the price). We were a total of six guests together with a guide and a chef. Our guide Rocky was amazing (!!) and it was clear that he was very experienced and was excellent at making sure we saw as much as possible as well as educating us on the wildlife and nature of Tanzania. Our chef Musa cooked for us every day and the food was delicious. The camping sites were in the middle of Serengeti national park and on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater and animals strolled just outside the tent during the night. The guide was careful to inform us of the safety rules regarding the camp sites and it felt very safe all the time. It was amazing to wake up to such breathtaking views every morning and I would really recommend to choose the camping accommodation. The tents were clean and fresh and we could comfortably fit two people inside, three might have been a bit cramped but would work as well. In Ngorongoro the temperature drops to around 15 degrees Celsius at night so make sure to bring warmer clothes.

I would also like to add that is a safari company that in my experience is professional and truly respects wildlife, nature and the ethics surrounding the safari industry.

To sum it all up it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend to go on safari with Suricata safaris!

This was our fourth trip to the Ngorogoro Caldera and The Serengeti National Park and our second with Rocky as our driver. Ndutu Safari Lodge is our favourite place on earth and this year was no exception. There was a lot of rain and Rocky skilfully navigated us through the muddy tracks to see the herds of wildebeest and zebra, with their newborn babies at the southernmost point of the migration cycle. A wonder to behold! We lost count of the number of lions that we saw in the trees this year. We also saw leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, warthog, an amazing Kori Bustard in full plumage, hippo, crocodile, impala, dik dik, Thompson gazelle, Grant gazelle, eland, waterbuck, hartebeest, countless birds including red bishop and busy weaver birds creating their nests. All this is no accident but due to Rocky’s profound knowledge of the wildlife and the geography of the National Parks coupled with his relentless determination to show us nature at its best and his never-failing cheerful companionship. We highly recommend using Suricata Safaris for the trip of a lifetime, although we are sure that you will return again and again.

We booked 7 days safari with Suricata Safaris to witness wildebeest migration in north serengeti, this was my first time in Tanzania.
The company is so organized and punctual to ensure their client fell at home when they arrive, the time I was arriving at the airport 6am, the safari your Jeep was waiting for us and I received a warm welcome. More I can't forget to recommend about the safari from Arusha to Serengeti. Rocky was our well professional guide and he could explain everything we asked him, had a lot of background information about the animals, birds good interaction with people in addition he made us smile every time. Food which was prepared by chief Yasin was delicious. The accommodation was of full comfortability and we truly thank Rocky for ensuring out safety.

My camera hadn't really very long short lens but we were always so close to the animals and always in good angle! ( Even the animals were surrounded by a lot of safari cars). Thanks Rocky and Yasini!!

We are a family of 4 from the UK, based in Sweden. Our kids are 7 & 9. We did a 4 day safari on a budget of 1000$/day, covering Tarangire, Ngorongoro & Serengeti.
The whole trip from start to finish was perfect. Hilary gave great pre trip support. I had a lot of questions and he answered them quickly and clearly.
Our guide Rocky, was fantastic. Right from the start we all had a good feeling about him. He made the whole experience very smooth & the kids loved him and he obviously likes kids 😆 In the end it was more like hanging out with a friend than a guide. Rocky is also really knowledgeable and experienced and we learnt a lot. We would definitely recommend Rocky as a guide, particularly if you have kids.
The car was good enough for us, not 5* comfort, but we paid for a budget safari and got what we paid for. We were lucky enough to have the whole vehicle to ourselves, which was great with the kids so they had more space to move and play.
The tented lodges we stayed were great. Extremely comfortable and spacious. We loved hearing all of the animals outside the tent at night. The food was amazing in the tented lodges inside the parks. I am gluten free and they catered to me better than money places in Europe.
Safari highlights are too many to mention. We saw the ‘big 5’ and more. Seeing the African wild dogs was a big highlight. The landscape is as breathtaking as you see in the pictures and on tv.
The safari was everything we hoped for and more.
