We decided to book tis family trip after a careful evaluation of three different organizations. Friends of Safari and his sole owner and employee, Mataro, seemed to be the more involved and knowledgeable. He has adapted the program according to our preferences (a little more hiking than usual) and we've been delighted by what we've seen, the quality of the lodging and the competence and kindness of our guides. That was for the good part.
On the financial side, the trip ended in a stressful and costly experience as Mataro had not used the prepaid money to book the whole trip. As he disappeared for health reasons in the middle of the trip, he left his contracted guides with no solution regarding the plane tickets that had not been booked and the hotel reservations that had not been paid. We had to take care of everything by ourselves, paying those amounts twice. Since July, it's proven impossible to recover our money, despite Mataro's recognition of his fault, an agreed upon installment plan and numerous broken promises.
Conclusion: do use Friends of Safari for their outstanding advices and subcontracted services, but dont' prepay and ask for voucher confirmations as soon as you pay.
