It is difficult to decide where to start when describing an unforgettable experience that was truly remarkable because of the company that made it happen. From the very beginning, Nandi (the US representative) proved knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly supportive. I was considering various companies, trying to decide who would be best to take my family of four on safari. Nandi was not only prompt with responses to my questions, but made herself available over the phone to discuss itinerary details. She was able to explain why going to Central Serengeti, for example, was important. Her advice proved correct as this is the only location where we saw leopards (yes, leopards, plural). She was also spot-on with her lodging recommendations, including advice for where we stayed overnight between completing our Kilimanjaro climb and starting our safari. The luxurious property we enjoyed was exactly what we needed. She was also incredibly patient as our plans had to fluctuate due to COVID impediments. When we arrived in Africa, the wonderful customer service of Proud African Safaris continued. We were greeted at the airport by the company owner, Adam, who had been waiting for 3+ hours since the customs and COVID testing procedures took so long. He waited for us past midnight and greeted us with a smile. This is exceptional, because we were not going with him on safari upon arrival. We were climbing Kilimanjaro first, with a different company. Yet, Adam met us (out of the kindness of his heart) so that he could help with luggage we needed to store while we were on Kilimanjaro. He then waited hours for us again, when our Kilimanjaro climb ended, meeting us at the gate where the trek ended so we could begin our safari adventure. Fast forward to post-safari, when Adam took us to lunch, purchased his favorite coffee for us to take home, and gave us an artwork present. Not only this, but he waited outside the airport, looking in the window at us, while we went thru customs. He was committed to making sure everything went as planned for us. During our safari, we had Ephraim as our guide. I have read a couple other reviews and seen what others have said about him as a guide. Absolutely true! Everything from his knack for finding the right place to position our vehicle, to his ability to spot animals from incredible distances, to the knowledge he was able to share about everything we saw. I cannot imagine having a better guide. He was incredible kind, easy to speak with, funny and ultimately someone I would consider a friend. He went out of his way to ensure we had the experience of a lifetime. We did not just see elephants, but saw baby elephants nursing. We did not only see lions, but watched them enjoying their gazelle and zebra and other kills. We saw baby hippos, giraffes, wildebeest, and more. We saw male gazelles fighting. We watched vultures enjoy a meal. We saw three different leopards. We not only experienced a front-row seat to a river crossing during the great migration, but we got to see two crossings!! From start to finish, this vacation was done right. I would tell anyone planning a safari to go no further than Proud African Safaris. If I am lucky enough to do one of these adventures again in my lifetime, I will be contacting PAS without hesitation. I cannot thank them enough for making this such a magical experience.

Our trip was delayed/revised several times due to COVID which was the only challenge/negative about the whole experience. Their US representative Nandi was incredible at working through our logistical issues, getting the itinerary finalized, and ensuring that we were well prepared for our trip. Once we arrived, movement to and from the airport to our first lodging was smooth. Once there, Adam, the owner in Tanzania met with us, went over all the specifics of our trip, and made us feel even more comfortable and confident that everything would go smoothly. Ephraim was our guide, and he was flawless. Not only did he excel at finding the animals we wished to see, but just as important to us he had a relaxed attitude, was fun to be around, and it felt like we had known him for years. He also worked his tail off throughout our trip and you could tell he truly cared that we had the best possible experience while in his country. As for the safari itself, while you can never be assured of seeing every animal you desire, we were lucky to see the entire Big 5, including several prides of lions, multiple groups of elephants, and best of all (for me) , a big male leopard up close. This was in addition to thousands of wildebeest, zebras, gazelle, and plenty of giraffe and hippos. We also spent a day interacting with several local tribes, which was a truly unique and rewarding experience and a perfect compliment to our safari. As for the lodgings, they were five star. Food was superb, service even better, and beautiful grounds that exceeded our expectations. Above all, every person we dealt with at Proud African Safaris was amazing. Good people who are working hard to make sure you have an unforgettable experience. I say this with not a shred of doubt: if you want to go on a Serengeti/Ngorongoro safari, you cannot do better than this company.

Great service, amazing venues and guides. Nadi's job was not easy...we changed our safari dates twice in 2020 due to Covid and ended up rescheduling for June of 2021. She did a great job rearranging our trip multiple times and making sure everything ran smoothly for us. Covid provided some challenges but you just have to go with the flow and it all works out. Adam was our contact and guide in Arusha, he took every care to make sure everything went smoothly for us. He got us though all of our flights, drove us on a city tour and was also our guide for the day we spent at Arusha National Park. This park is great if you have an extra day in Arusha. You could ask Adam any question about what you were seeing and he had the answer. Ephraim then met us at the landing strip in the Serengeti and was our guide for the next 6 days. He's the "animal whisperer". He always knew exactly where to park the truck and the animals would walk on by literally feet from us. I don't know he can drive the truck while avoiding ruts and holes and spot animals in the distance while doing it. He went above and beyond for us to make sure we got the best photos. Ephraim is not only fluent in English and Swahili but also in Maasai. One day while have lunch in the bush we encountered about 12 Maasai children with whom we were able to share our lunches with. It was an amazing experience for us. Ephraim is kind and has great respect for the environment, PAS is lucky to have him. The lodging and food was excellent. Talk about being spoiled! All the lodging/camps and their staff were great but I want to give a shout out to Siringit Serengeti Camp. We were serenaded upon arrival and departure and also nightly with our sundowners the Maasai employees treated us to their ritual songs and dance. Amazing! To top it off they put hot water bottles in our beds to ward off the chill. Lastly and gratefully PAS's trucks had windows and not the roll up tarps some other companies used. It was chilly in the mornings, sometimes dusty and we also ran into some tse tse flies. Having actually windows in the truck is the only way to go. I can't say enough good thing about PAS, I'm so happy we chose them for this trip of a lifetime!

Beyond Amazing Experience!! Best service, best venues, and most knowledgeable and attentive staff to ensure safety. Travel during Covid19 was a challenge, but everything worked out. We had to reschedule and half our original party couldn't go, but PAS worked with us to make sure all details were covered. Our guide, Ephraim, gave us so much insight into what we were seeing. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the best photos and videos possible. We talked to other travelers who had guides that seemed in a hurry to get through the parks. We definitely saw more animals than others we talked with. Covid testing in Seronera was efficient for the return flight back to USA. The venues chosen were outstanding. Food was amazing and I never had problems getting vegetarian meals. I can't wait to schedule another adventure with PAS. I guarantee, you will not be disappointed with them. They have the experience, knowledge, and network to be sure all the little details are taken care of. Nandi, Adam, Ephraim, Zubeda, and the entire team working behind the scenes are incredible people working to ensure a great trip.

Unfortunately, this review is not about the amazing sites we saw on our safari, or the incredible animals we were lucky enough to see. That will come in due time. We were scheduled to take a 10 day safari in May for our honeymoon. The coronavirus has other plans. As frustrating as having to postpone our trip has been, the whole team at Proud African Safaris, particularly Nandi, have been top notch in handling these uncertain times. They have communicated with us well, given us multiple viable options for re scheduling, and most importantly have honored their commitment to make sure that whenever it is we can take our trip, that everything will be taken care of. My fiancé and I travel frequently and consider ourselves quite independent. However, when we book tours, we try to do so with companies who pride themselves on customer service and attention to detail because if something unforeseen does come up, having support is vitally important. We are VERY fortunate that we decided to book with Proud African Safaris for this very reason. All of this shall pass, and we will no doubt have an amazing safari some day soon. Until then, they deserve kudos for how they have helped us.
