We had a 6 day (with arrival and departure 8 days) pure safari experience at the end of November and could not have imagined it better.
We got in contact with Lodaru Mollel via the homepage and he designed the safari according to our wishes and according to our budget. We had a lot of questions and often wrote back and forth, but Lodaru was always patient with us. Since our trip was very spontaneous, he even made it possible for us to pay on arrival and thus took a high risk for him. We arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport late in the evening, where our guide Emanuel was already waiting for us. An elderly gentleman who was able to inspire with all his experiences and who shared all his endless knowledge with us. A year before we were in Kenya and our guide there was very cautious and said little about the animals, life and nature. Emanuel can not be compared with him. With him we saw all the animals that we had ever dreamed of, including the Big Five (which wasn't that important to us). Our route went from Tarangire National Park via Lake Manyara towards Serengeti and on the way back through the Ngorongoro Crater. He drove with us the most remote stretches in the national parks, where we often could not see any other vehicles far and wide and could experience the time and animals even more intensely. During the safari he provided us with water and snacks. Lunch always took place at picnic spots in the national parks and could not be better. We expected packed lunches with bread and maybe some fruits, but instead we always got warm meals with fruit and then tea and coffee. He always had a whole range of camper equipment with him, with camping pots, crockery, etc. The lodges selected on the safari were all great, we especially liked the Osero Tendet Camp in the Serengeti (you can find a separate review under the camp name) . One day before our departure we received a notice from Precision Air that our flight to Zanzibar had been canceled and that the next flight would departure much later, Lodaru contacted the airline for us and was able to rebook us on an earlier flight. We are infinitely grateful to him for this. All in all, we are happy to had this experience and could not have imagined it to be more beautiful. At first we were unsure whether we should fly because of the current situation, but we haven't regretted it for a second. In Tanzania, Corona is currently considered defeated. You should always be critical of such statements and decide for yourself whether you want to keep your distance from people. Since we had a private tour, we never felt at risk and also the lodges are currently anything but overcrowded due to the covid19. You support the economy by traveling especially during these times. Emanuel informed us that this is his first safari since the beginning of Corona. We highly recommend Dusty Roads and wish them all the best for the future! We hope to be back soon, and then we will definitely know who to contact.

We had a great 7-night safari trip with Dusty roads and Jeff in Oct, 2019.
We have been somehow convinced that Dusty roads was the right choice already at the stage of planning, when Mollel listened to our requests carefully and tried to customise the best itinerary accordingly. This is not always the case, as instead of listening to your wishes, some companies just tried hard to sell their easy classic tours that normally exclude destinations difficult to reach, such as Lake Natron, which was the main purpose of our trip.
On top of that, what impressed us most is Mollel’s expertise and willingness to help. Most notably, in Serengeti, taking into account the potential location of the herds, he selected the hotels and found a perfect balance between tented camp and lodges.
Jeff was our driver and guide and our trip with him was more than excellent. With his knowledge of animals and parks, we always reach the right place at the right time. Throughout our trips, we have seen all the things we would like to see. And the highlight was to witness a serval hunting in the morning!
It was a great time with Dusty roads and we would definitely recommend it.

This was the trip of a lifetime. Cannot say enough great things. Incredible guide in Jeff. He was so knowledgeable, very experienced, and by the end of the trip, he felt like a friend. He had amazing eyes, and could see things from so far away! The trip was very well organized, and everything went without a hitch. Our accommodations were beautiful. Every day we thought “this can’t be matched,” but every day was fabulous. Would also recommend the order in which we did things (Tarangiri, night safari (Lake Manyara), Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater. We then added on Zanzibar. There are insufficient superlatives to describe this experience.

Can't put into words how amazing this tour was! We had a custom made tour which the Dusty Roads team were very helpful in arranging for us. We spent time in the 3 national parks, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti and every stop along the way was beautiful and filled with animals. I was constantly blown away not just by the animals, but by the stunning landscapes Tanzania has to offer. The guide, Francis, was knowledgeable about both the animals and the environment and was a very skilled driver. We felt safe throughout the trip and alongside this he was respectful to the wildlife, getting us close for great pictures while ensuring the safety and respecting the animals. The hotels and camps we stayed in were all great, clean, organised and had great food at each stop! Each afternoon we met with Frances to plan the next day, and he was adaptable and helpful in guiding us to make the most of each day. Everything from a 3am airport pick-up through to the end of our tour ran smoothly. I can not fault this company and highly recommend them to anyone looking to explore Tanzania.

We had a fantastic trip in Tanzania in February 2020. The safari and beach portions were equally well thought out and the accommodations were great! Jeff was an amazing guide and it was so nice to have everything planned and not have to coordinate things on our own. Jeff and Dusty Roads took care of everything. Jeff was a fabulous driver, animal spotter, and cultural guide! We would recommend planning a trip through Dusty Roads for anyone wanting to experience Tanzania! Thank you for everything!

I was able to book a day tour through Ngorongoro to visit both the crater and olduvai gorge with some time to have seen 3 of the big closely with a distant view of a Rino through the provided binoculars. My driver made my day tour very pleasant and fun. He went above and beyond to make my feel pleased and fulfilled with my day being that it was actually my birthday and had traveled from the east coast of America. My driver was early for the hotel pick up in Arusha, which was a plus. I really enjoyed the whole and I mean the whole experience.

My wife and I were stuck without a driver and guide. Osero camp hooked us up with Andrew, and from then on our trip was perfect. Andrew knows every road and every great spot to find animals. We saw the wildebeest migration, when all others said it was the wrong time. Andrew was forceful in getting us the best viewing positions throughout Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. If you are looking for a guide, ask for Andrew with Dusty Roads.

Use this company. It is locally owned and operated. Our guide Jeff was beyond amazing and has binocular vision to spot animals we could never see. He was very knowledgeable about all of the parks and the animals. We felt safe and knew we were in good hands. Dusty Roads has made me want to visit Tanzania over and over again.

We were with Dusty Roads for 5 days, including our arrival and departure day, with Justine as our guide. We had two days in the Serengeti, one day at Ngorogoro Crater, and two days for travel from/to the airport with a few stops along the way. We felt very safe and were well taken care of the entire time. Justine was very professional and felt like an old friend at the same time. He was rather knowledgeable about the wildlife and landscape. We got to see the Big 5 and all the other animals except for cheetahs. Dusty Roads was able to accommodate a few special requests we had too. Without any hesitancy, we would take another safari with Justine and Dusty Roads!

How can I describe the experience in a few words? It was just fantastic, even beyond our expectations! We were with a guide Emmanuel and a driver Donatus, both exceptional. We spent 5 days and 4 nights with them, 3 nights at Osero Camp, fabulous, sleeping in the savannah with the sound of wild animals was a great experience the staff was very attentive, kind and considerate. The eye of the two guides was incredible but true. Their good humor and smile contributed greatly to the good time we had. I recommend without any hesitation.
Thanks to Dusty Road, to Abel the boss and especially to our guides who made this experience the realization of our dream. Ending up at Serena Lodge in Ngororo for the last night was also exceptional. Thank you for everything, and we hope to see you next time.
