We had a 6 day (with arrival and departure 8 days) pure safari experience at the end of November and could not have imagined it better.
We got in contact with Lodaru Mollel via the homepage and he designed the safari according to our wishes and according to our budget. We had a lot of questions and often wrote back and forth, but Lodaru was always patient with us. Since our trip was very spontaneous, he even made it possible for us to pay on arrival and thus took a high risk for him. We arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport late in the evening, where our guide Emanuel was already waiting for us. An elderly gentleman who was able to inspire with all his experiences and who shared all his endless knowledge with us. A year before we were in Kenya and our guide there was very cautious and said little about the animals, life and nature. Emanuel can not be compared with him. With him we saw all the animals that we had ever dreamed of, including the Big Five (which wasn't that important to us). Our route went from Tarangire National Park via Lake Manyara towards Serengeti and on the way back through the Ngorongoro Crater. He drove with us the most remote stretches in the national parks, where we often could not see any other vehicles far and wide and could experience the time and animals even more intensely. During the safari he provided us with water and snacks. Lunch always took place at picnic spots in the national parks and could not be better. We expected packed lunches with bread and maybe some fruits, but instead we always got warm meals with fruit and then tea and coffee. He always had a whole range of camper equipment with him, with camping pots, crockery, etc. The lodges selected on the safari were all great, we especially liked the Osero Tendet Camp in the Serengeti (you can find a separate review under the camp name) . One day before our departure we received a notice from Precision Air that our flight to Zanzibar had been canceled and that the next flight would departure much later, Lodaru contacted the airline for us and was able to rebook us on an earlier flight. We are infinitely grateful to him for this. All in all, we are happy to had this experience and could not have imagined it to be more beautiful. At first we were unsure whether we should fly because of the current situation, but we haven't regretted it for a second. In Tanzania, Corona is currently considered defeated. You should always be critical of such statements and decide for yourself whether you want to keep your distance from people. Since we had a private tour, we never felt at risk and also the lodges are currently anything but overcrowded due to the covid19. You support the economy by traveling especially during these times. Emanuel informed us that this is his first safari since the beginning of Corona. We highly recommend Dusty Roads and wish them all the best for the future! We hope to be back soon, and then we will definitely know who to contact.
