Nice to socialize; crowded
Oct 2019
This annual event is a great time for friends to get together. Beware it is extremely crowded. Garbage cans are available, but there should be more. All announcements are only in Chinese, not in English. But usually a good variety of music. Go extremely early to get a spot.

Better every year!
Oct 2018 • Friends
I have been a performer and audience member almost yearly for the past decade +

The quality of the groups & sound reinforcement has improved every year! This is a very popular 9-day festival. Arrive early to stake out an area on the grass to sit & watch the evening performances.

The HSR (High Speed Rail) takes only 47 minutes from Taipei. Many good affordable hotels very close to the park.

Good music, poor sound
Oct 2015 • Couples
We went to Taichung specifically for this event, it having been recommended by a good friend. There were concert in the evenings, by Taiwanese and international musicians. We went to 3 concerts. All in all, the performers were good, but the sound system did not do them justice. It was impossible to hear subtle passages. Voice and piano were almost inaudible, especially male voices.

The city also decided to set up stalls to sell food and drink at the park. This gave the event a carnival atmosphere. Quite a lot of the people came to the park to picnic and have a good time. They made so much noise, it was almost impossible to hear the music.

I think Taichung has to decide on how they want the event to be organised - as a community event, or a musical one.
