Think Hwy 101 California coast, Amalfi cliffside road, Italy, Cabot Trail, Canada, Now add rock slides, road fractures and occasional typhoon rain. We drove north from Hualien to Su-an and I was in the passenger seat, ocean side, for this trip. Outside view of rocks, beach or just ocean 1000' below, most of the way. Not a road for the weak of... We made a drive in our rental car from Hualien city northwards on the Suhua Highway (No.9) to view the stunning Qingshui Cliffs. The azure colours of the sea and sky against the sheer steepness of the cliffs make such a stunning photograph. There are two vantage points where you can stop with proper parking spaces – south side and... More

On the southern part of the Su-Hua Highway overlooking the Pacific Ocean of blue water at the shore below. There is car park, public toilet and a pavilion at this viewing point. Walking further inside after the pavilion is the scenic view point of the cliff which rises from the blue ocean below. From here looking southwards able to see... More

Must go attraction, the view is stunning and similar as route no 1 in USA. Not far from national park and only shot walk to the cliff.

Wonderful views of very spectacular coastline. Easy to stop in a couple of places where you can walk down to viewing areas. Worth taking an hours diversion when visiting Taroko, as we did.

We arrived at the cliffs (at the end of April) for 5.30am just in time to see a stunning sunrise. We were the only people there - perfect.it would still be worth a stop later in the day - as the coastal cliffs are dramatic - but the photos just won't be the same.

The cliffs are quite spectacular. However, it ist best to take the full tour from northern YangMingShan Mationalpark to Hualien to get a full impression on the spectacular landscape. But definetely you should not miss the view from the beach near Hualien.

The place is so scenic and it is definitely worth a stop to take a picture of the cliff. You will go past the tunnels where the trains from Taipei go to and fro. There are also observatory that you can go up to and take pictures on. This is a must stop place for people visiting hualien.
