Fantastic driver Sanjaya 100% recomendable

Sanjaya our driver has been fantastic these past 8 days. We have a 22 month old toddler who our driver has has been incredibly accommodating with throughout the trip even offering to babysit if we wanted to go to the spa :) couldn’t recommend enough. Traveled very safely and had some lovely conversations with him from everything about culture, to family, to politics. We even got him up for a 12 hour day starting at 4am with no complaints at all. Great service, great person and great driving. We were worried about paying deposit to contacts from the internet but absolute transparency from the company, always on time and very contactable so no worries to anyone with our feelings reading this. Much luck to Sanjaya and his family!

Trip to Sri Lanka

I would highly recommend a trip with SLD Tours. Mr Hasantha was very professional from the moment I made contact and responsive to my requesting.
Our driver Nirmal was everything we could have asked for. He was friendly, professional, an excellent and safe driver and spoke good English. He was able to suggest ideas for activities to ensure we had a full and fun packed itinerary. He was reliable, punctual and went to great lengths to accommodate our needs. I would highly recommend him as a driver.
The most enjoyable parts of the trip were visiting Worlds End in Hatton and Little Adams Peak to see the early morning sunrises. The safari in Yarla national park was excellent, we even saw a leopard. We saw whales including blue Whales and flying fish on a boat trip in Mirissa. In Kandy we visited the Tooth Temple and cultural show. The cookery demonstration in Ella was fun. Swimming in a waterfall as we travelled from Kandy to the tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya.

Great tour, great driver

An exceptional tour of Sri Lanka with a knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating driver, Roshan. Roshan went the extra mile to make sure we had a comfortable and safe journey, he spoke good English and acted not only as our driver but also as our guide. He was flexible, always on time and made sure we had enough time at each location, he also had no issues with changing the itinerary to suit us. I highly recommend this company for a reliable and enjoyable tour of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Driver Feb 2023

We spent 5 days in Sri Lanka and chose to use a driver to make the moving around as stress free as possible. Hasantha and Sanjaya met us as the airport at the chosen time and got us introduced and settled.
Throughout the tour Sanjaya was extremely accommodating and kind to us, regularly giving out snippets of local knowledge about the areas we passed through and stopped to point out local wildlife. His driving was safe and comfortable and he was extremely flexible when we wanted to change the plan or visit somewhere different to what we had discussed - we cannot recommend Sanjaya enough, he was great!
We will definitely come back to Sri Lanka and look forward to seeing more of the country over a longer period of time next time - when we do, we will definitely use SLD Tours again.

Fabulous holiday

We are delighted that we chose SLD Tours for our holiday in Sri Lanka. From our first contact with Hasantha, we were provided a professional service. Our driver, Nirmal, arrived promptly to pick us up from each of the 6 hotels and was very confident when driving from one destination to the next. Nirmal is an experienced and knowledgeable driver and made us feel safe and comfortable during our trip. Nirmal is professional, courteous, friendly and was flexible when we wanted to make small changes to the planned itinerary. We would highly recommend SLD Tours and Nirmal.

Great service for bio-bubble travel

We traveled under the SLDTA’s bio-bubble scheme where we have to stay at certified hotels and visit designated tourist sites. It is a bit complicated to arrange and I wanted a certified tour agency that was driver only without charging for extras as I had already decided on the itinerary. But this company can do full service for you if you also want to rely on them to arrange everything.

Everything was great from communicating with Hasantha to the tour with our driver Dissanayake. Hasantha communicated well in English with concise and fast emails, and Dissanayake takes care to pay attention to your interests to recommend suggested places to visit.

We were able to shorten our route and the driving time based on the changes Dissa suggested, and he even contacted guides that got us special permission from the Wildlife Department to visit Bundala national park whilst in the bio-bubble. All the recommendations he provided ended up being the better choices: such as getting a local birding guide for Sinharaja, which even saved us some money.

We also had trouble with our 1st hotel who wasn’t familiar with the bio bubble procedures and didn’t want to let us travel to the tourist sites and Dissa and Hasanatha helped to resolve them.

All in all, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. They also now have experience with the travel bubble arrangements.

Best drivers in Sri Lanka!

We can not rave more about this company and in particular the amazing driver we had. Nirmal was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Always prompt, helpful, kind and we always felt safe. He accommodated any small changes we made to our plans without a fuss and was always happy to be flexible. A key point during this time of uncertainty for Sri Lanka is the fuel shortages amongst other things (although we didn’t have any issues during our two week trip and loved every minute of it). Unlike many other drivers we heard about, Nirmal would amazingly go and queue in the evenings once he had dropped us off to ensure he always had a full tank of petrol and no inconvenience was caused to us. That really is above and beyond. We can honestly say he made our trip that much more enjoyable and wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend him and this company. Hasantha was also brilliant in helping us make our initial arrangements with clear e-mail communications throughout and meeting us at the airport after our long flight when we first arrived. If I could give them 6 stars I would!

Superb Service

Everything was clear and transparent from the start. No surprises in between the trip. Hasantha not only helped set the itinerary but also assisted getting my wife's ETA. He personally visited the immigration office to figure out the hold up for which we are ever thankful.

Our driver Amila was fantastic. Always on time. He drove tirelessly through the late evenings ensuring we are on track with our itinerary, ensured that our accommodation and food were well taken care off by the hotel and most importantly reminded us to check our passport and phones every morning before leaving for our next destination. He was more than just our driver but our guide throughout the 8 day trip. Suggested wonderful options but never pressurized us to do anything that we didn't want. With his enthusiasm to show Sri Lanka you can't but help and fall in love with this beautiful country and it's wonderful people. Highly recommended!

Excellent trip with Nirmal

I highly recommend SLD tours and specifically Nirmal, who was our driver for an 8-day trip from Sigiriya down to the south coast. The trip was great from start to finish. It was easy to arrange a driver over email shortly prior to the trip & we were met by Mr Hasthana at the airport, who introduced us to Nirmal. The car was very comfortable & Nirmal was a smooth driver (despite a lot of crazy vehicles on the road!). He was kind, funny and importantly for us unobtrusive. When invited to do so he made some excellent recommendations including for a Safari near Sigiriya where we saw lots of elephants - a very special experience. He also suggested that taking the train from Kandy to Ella might be too long & that if we drove half way we could see some interesting things on route. He was absolutely right! We saw a beautiful waterfall, tea plantation & Nuwara Eliyah then took the train for 2.5 hours which was the perfect amount of time. I have no hesitation in recommending Nirmal as your driver in Sri Lanka.

Fantastic experience with a fabulous driver-Tushara!

Such a fantastic trip made extra special with SLD tours especially our driver Tushara. He went above & beyond every day to make our holiday special. He became part of our family and truly made the holiday once in a lifetime. From recommending places to eat and visit and organising boat trips and ensuring we got the best deals whilst shopping. We were a large group ranging in age from 5 to 83 and all our needs were met daily. He drove very carefully and safety was his first priority at all times. Would 100% recommend to use SLD tours (& Tushara) for any tours planned.
