We are on vacation and took our own tour by tuktuk from Hikkaduwa to Galle with a driver.
We also went to the silk factory.
It is very interesting to see how silk is made.
I had a wrap skirt and over-hanger made from pure silk crepe silk.
It falls beautifully, just as I imagined.
After 2 hours we drove past Galle again. Everything was finished.
270 € pure silk, beautifully sewn.

We visited silk factory almost at the end of our trip and it was absolutely great experience. We have bought a lot of silk (different pieces for dresses and scarves). Silk is so gentle and luxury looking, totally recommend buying some staff there. Price is around 25 $ per meter (width is 1.14 and 1.4 meter) and it’s really cheap for a such quality. Be aware, that of course you may buy silk at local market cheaper, but it’s fake silk. I wish you a good shopping:)

Very nice place with helpful people offering good quality silk. I ordered customized shirt and when it turned out that it cannot not be ready until my leave, they proposed me sending it to my home country. Prices as in Poland but better value for money. Fully recommend.

Loved seeing the Silk worms and being told the process. Absolutely fascinating to see the silk being woven by one of their most experienced weavers on the loom.
Chose fabric for a dress but was disappointed at
a) the cost (were offered a 10% discount but on paying, we needed to haggle for just a 5% discount!)
b) the silly mistake made with the wrong positioning of the pockets!
c) disappointed with poor selection of shirts
So, be prepared.

We are truly sorry if there were any inconvenience during your visit to our store.
We do not give any discount on custom made dresses. And yes there was a mistake with wrong positioning pockets but WE DID make the changes as you requested and delivered to you at Amari Hotel on 24th February without any additional charges and you were satisfied with it. Its pity that you posted a review before it was delivered to you.
Yes we do not have a huge collection of mens shirts as 95% of our products are for woman. We are working on improving on this.

I visited Natural Silk Factory several times during my stay in Sri Lanka - firstly just to look at the process of making and shop for myself but shorty I felt in love with this place and decided to collaborate and start my own fashion brand. I was always treated with much care and patient when presented a new idea of a quite difficult model I wanted to make. I think nothing is impossible to be made by them. Tailor is so talented and all the staff that I’ve met is so nice and helpful. One of the best experiences in SL! Thank you all!

The people working there are really nice and welcoming. They show you around (one can get a closer „behind the scene“) and explain the production process. The fabrics and designs are beautiful and the collection is quite big. It for sure is worth visiting when you stay in Galle!

The first time I see silk being produced, very nice. It is not a large factory, but you get an insight anyway. Nice shop with very pleasant and service-oriented employees. I had a tailored shirt made which they sent to my next hotel, very good. Also got to buy some presents for them at home. I am very happy to buy something of good quality that I actually get to use, well worth a visit for me.

An extremely interesting experience - we were told how the cycle of silk worms to make clothing. I had no idea that silk is made from cocoons! Worth a visit. It doesn’t take more than 20 mins to go through the factory.

Very interesting tour of the process - and seeing the silkworms munching on their mulberry leaves. Of course, there is a shop at the end but everyone knows this right? Please don't give a poor review because you are shocked by that. This is how these women make a living. If not for you don't go. I personally found the products of a high quality and something a little bit different to usual souvenirs. I was happy to buy and felt I got a very fair price.

Great place for kids to see how silk is made, A good place for mothers to buy silk items, large variety. We enjoyed the entire experience from cocoon to dress.

Hello, we will be in Sri Lanka in Feb and in Galle for a few days. We're looking forward to visiting you. Do you sell silk by the metre? And if we wished to have curtains made how long would it take? (eg if we place an order would we be able to collect before we left for home?) Is there anywhere online we can look at a selection of colours and prices please? Many thanks Lorna

Dear Lorna, Yes we do sell silk by meter. We have all kinds of 100% silk fabrics. And yes we do silk curtain orders as well. Mainly curtains are done in Raw silk which is a hand woven fabric. Usually we take about 3 to 10 days to make an order depending on your requirement and our production capacity. I would suggest you visit us soon as your in Sri Lanka so we will have enough time. Well you don't need to pre book it. We are open all 7 days 8.30 to 17.00 and you may visit us anytime. Since it's only an demonstration of making silk it last about 10 to 15 minutes only. Please let us know if more infor needed. Thank you.
