Built by the Portuguese in 1588 and then fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century, the Fort is a monument that has retained its appearance for over 400 years. The Flag Rock is a bastion from which the Dutch would signal approaching ships.

Provides the best view to shoot the Galle Lighthouse and walls along the ocean. You can also find wall divers. Worth the small climb and detour from main path.

This has become a top spot for all tourists and locals for sunset. You will be with around 100-200 other tourists but it is a great time to walk around as it is much cooler

Flag Rock was in the past a Portuguese Bastion and it is located in the southernmost end of the Fort.
It is a good place to see the sunset and for this reason it's very popular.
