“Nothing special” – says my partner. I quite liked it – very nice park, well designed, great vistas. As another review said, “a great place to while away a couple of hours” (the tour lasts a little over 1 hour). There are two tours –...More

This is one of the most beautiful estates I have ever visited. Geoffrey Bawa bought the plot, 25 acres, in 1948 as has created a lush landscape that rivals Capability Brown but uses tropical plants more then the engl. master ever did. The building are...More

Beautiful garden and landscape with a guided tour which was very interesting. Be sure to turn up in time for the tours at 9.30 or 2 pm or you won’t get in!

Highly recommend going to check out this estate! Very tastefully done, and the tour was informative (lasted about 1 hour). The estate is immaculate and has great architecture, views. Be careful with timings, since only 2 visits per day, we went for the 2pm.

So, this is the famous architect, Bawa’s, house and gardens which he created. Even though you can’t go in the buildings unless you stay overnight there, you can appreciate the buildings. The gardens have a great aura of calm and beauty. It’s easy with a...More

Only the grounds are open - the house and buildings are now a hotel .The garden is only open at certain times. It is a lovely experience, decaying decadence of a bygone era.

Ideally stay at the gate house if you feel you be isolated, given the garden is huge and always isolation is there.

I agree with the other answer. It’s a lovely spot but don’t just turn up without checking tour times as they stick strictly to these.
