Waste of space
Dec 2020
Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park occupies some significant square mileage near the Bomun Lake area. An 8000 won ticket covers all of the “attractions” in the park which used to charge separate fees that added up to over 20,000 won which would’ve been criminal given the quality of the sights. The first stop Gyeongju Expo Memorial Center had a Paik Nam June piece (which wasn’t even turned on) and some displays on all the cultural expos hosted in Gyeongju, none of which couldn’t hold even 15 seconds of my attention. Timeless Media Art was a total waste of space with tacky images projected on dark rooms which supposedly represented the famous Gyeongju sights when they resembled lightings from cheap rural night clubs. Going to the top of Gyeongju Tower was the only part that kept the visit from a total waste of time with some good views from the top and a cool diorama of Silla-era Gyeongju. We didn’t bother with the Natural History Museum and the rest of the sights. It’s hard to imagine how the city gave the thumbs up for this huge waste of space. What an embarrassment for the city of Gyeongju.

amazing exhibition and a great tower
Oct 2020
If you are exhibition lover and like looking down to the city from above the this place is for you. I was so impressed by Timeless exhibition here and also the unique design of Gyeongju Tower that high 850 meters. You can take elevator to go to the top of the tower and look down to the city

Lumina Night Walk
Oct 2020
We did the night walk and kids (10/14) and adults enjoyed it. Only W5k and a neat experience, starts with a steep walk, there is a video at the start to follow the story but adults don’t to watch to enjoy the experience. Nice view as well from the top of the walk. Tower is worth checking out as well

Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park

It's only one ride from Gyeong Express Bus Terminal, bus number 150, 100 or 100-1 can take you there and it's not quite far, maybe a 20-minute bus ride. This place is good for family or friends who likes art. Has some museums, it is actually divided into 13 or 14 parts, there's museums, 3d theater, etc. They will actually give a brochure (which I lost) before entering and will give you a brief orientation using that brochure/map of the park. It's actually quite big and the admission fee is only ₩6,000. There is also the Gyeongju tower which is in the middle of the park, you can take the elevator and it will take you 850m above to reach the peak. And there's also a cafe on the top so you can have a coffee while enjoying the view. Above, there is also a somewhat history museum where the walls are used as a huge screen. They're also famous for their Lumina Light Walk which is available at 5:30pm if I'm not mistaken.

Expo park have a few exhibitionts and you can go to the top of inverted pagoda building. There is a really nice garden there (some places are free and some are paid). All in all it was nice experience because I had a lot of time while in Gyeongju and there is also Bomun lake nearby or amusment park so you can put some things together to visit.

Visited the tower in day 2 of our Gyeongju trip (Bulguksa temple --> Lake Bomun --> Gyeongju Tower) in late Oct. Gyeongju tower is located in the Gyeongju Expo Park, quite close to Lake Bomun. We walked about 30 mins from Lake Bomun to Gyeongju Tower. On the way, we passed Joongdo tower – a beautiful 9 stories pagoda tower and the "husband" of Gyeongju tower. Seem they were "married" in Oct 2015 in a big ceremony. Saw the news on youtube but not sure what pagoda building is for. It was locked when we walk towards Gyeongju tower in the later afternoon.

After visiting various temples, we welcome a change of modern architecture. Gyeongju Tower is majestic and the Expo park is huge. They have several event when we were there - dinosaur exhibition, lantern exhibition and etc. They have a park with sculptures. We took the lift up to Gyeongju Tower. The view on top of the tower is beautiful. 1 part observation tower show you the buildings nearby the expo park and the other part shows you the park which actually have some design if seen from the top. The surrounding area of the Tower and the park are free. Going up to Gyeongju Tower cost 3,000 won (if not mistaken). Nearby the expo park got some restaurants like burger king.

We were at the Expo park until the sky turn dark. We enjoying the park while the sun sets, the lantern exhibition (which is free) and to see the tower light. Lovely sight to end a day outing

Top shot of Bomun Tourist Complex

Take an escalator to the top floor where you can enjoy coffee and enjoy a 180 degree top view of Bomun Area at the same time. The scenary is gorgeous. The ticket is 3000 won/px. There are also exhibitions about Silla and Buddha. Lots of restaurants are located in Bomun. The garden in the Park is great too.

We were just to see the "pagoda" building. Only that is worth a visit. But there are smal and large statute and other buildings around.
You can just have a walk there. Were were there just a normal day, no exhibitions.
