Gyeongju trip
Oct 2020 • Friends
I enjoyed this place wherein you can see temples and Ancient Monuments located in Gyeongju. There are also small lakes around the area. When we visit the place, there are also many tourists coming along to see the beauty of the place. Though there is an entrance fee, I can say that it is somehow worth the price especially for those who love tourist attractions like this.

A quaint little templte

Not a very big temple. I'm sure there is some history to is but our tour was in Korean so we were not able to fully appreciate the significance of the temple.

This isn’t a big temple & I am sure the ponds / lakes would look so much nicer when the Lilly’s are out. The most interesting area to see is where the lanterns are hanging

This is a small temple complex, that is worth including in a tour of Ancient Monuments...not necessarily as a destination. We unfortunately visited during the latter stages of a Typhoon, so we got a little wet!

A ruined pagoda, a National Treasure
Apr 2019 • Solo
Bunhwangsa Temple, (芬皇寺,Fragrant Emperor Temple) is an old temple dates back to 634 A.D. (during Silla Kingdom). The original temple was destroyed in the 1200s. Today’s buildings were rebuilt in the 18th century.

A notable historic relic in the temple is the Stone Pagoda. It is the Korean National Treasure No. 30. The pagoda is a remain from the Silla Kingdom. Basing on prototypes from the Tang Dynasty of China, the pagoda originally stood nine stories tall. Today, only three tiers remain.

There are four doors and two Mighty Diamond Men guarding each door. Around the four corners of the pagoda’s base are four little lions. These are all beautiful culture treasures. Though three of the lions are replicas and stand on the base alongside the original one.

This temple is not a hot tourist spot, so is free of the crowds. The peaceful ambience provide a pleasant and quiet break from the tourist crowds in other areas of Gyeongju.
It provokes profound thought and feelings for the remote past.

Nice relaxed temple

Beautiful and tranquil temple area, with a famous pagoda and various other historic artifacts. Very much still in use, so please be modest to allow everyone to celebrate their traditions and beliefs.

Small stone temple
Jul 2017 • Couples
Easy to get to on bus 11 or 150 from town, this small stone temple is plain and quiet. Only two stories remain and worth a brief look if you have time.

A small but interesting temple

There are only a few things to see here, but the entrance fee is only ₩1300, so it's well worth a visit if you are passing through the area.

Quiet temple with a remnant of an impressive pagoda
Oct 2016 • Couples
This is a small compound with the most prominent item being the part of the pagoda (3 levels at the base standing, out of possible 7 or 9 levels based on the width of the base). You can see this as a part of the overall Gyeongju visit but not a whole lot to see in this laid-back temple. You can also visit the temple to see the Buddha statue with medicine box in hand.

A quiet and peaceful place
Dec 2015 • Solo
The temple is not as grand as Bulguksa so it is not as crowded as Bulguksa. Still, it is no harm for you to visit if you have extra time in Gyeongju. It is a historical site and the entrance fee is quite cheap.
