Daejeon Museum of art is a good place for you if you want to find a place to see some performances. Last vacation I visited Daejeon Museum of art with my family. The views were amazing, which was worthwhile to see. We took so many photos there. We watched a musical ‘Mamamia’ at there and we all satisfied with it. In the stage a seat was comfortable and temperature was good to watch a show. Staffs were kind and I appreciated with their service. Daejeon Museum of art is great place for walk either. You can walk aroud surrounding of Daejeon Museum of art or can ride a bike. I had a great time at Daejeon Museum of art so I recommend this place to other people.

Daejeon Museum of Art is a great place to visit in Daejeon if you have some time or want to take a walk, which offers a delightful experience. At the museum, you can see works such as traditional Korean paintings and modern art sculptures. Occasionally, exhibitions are held here featuring a selection of works based on a particular theme, which adds an extra layer of excitement to your visit.
It's worth noting that the museum is located 1.7km from the nearest subway station, so recommend taking the bus for convenience.

We visited on a blisteringly hot summer's afternoon, mid week, and the cool, high ceilinged environment of the museum was a welcome relief.

We had travelled down a couple of times before, unaware that the museum was temporarily closed whilst they set up the new exhibition - there hadn't been any notification of this on the website and it was only by using Google Translate on the notice on the door, that we managed to ascertain that we couldn't visit until the beginning of August.

This is quite a compact museum, but with large, open spaces for display. We went to see the latest exhibition - The Future of Cities - exploring the 'changing faces of cities through the multifaceted entanglement of the past, present, and future, and imagining the future cities that will have newly emerged in connection to the present. Furthermore, the Exhibition explores open possibilities of future cities as 'terrapolis', in which every living species on the planet co-exists with equal rights.'

Quite lofty ideals to display then.

Many of the exhibits were interactive, walk through, videos, sound etc. Judging by the other visitors we saw there, it certainly appealed to young people. We are an active retired couple from the UK, early / mid sixties and I have to say that sometimes modern art just leaves me feeling either stupid or frustrated. This particular presentation just didn't click with me at all, but that is not to detract from the work and thought that had gone into it; the appreciation of art is, after all, a uniquely personal experience.

The guide we picked up in the entrance lobby had English descriptions, as did the wall plaques in the galleries and the staff were friendly and informative and were happy to converse in English - most welcome.

A light, airy and cool cafe was a welcome place to top up with cold drinks before heading home.

The art theme continues outside with a series of sculptures and dancing fountains.

Definitely worth a visit, the Museum is located on the same basic campus as two concert halls, the Lee Ungno Art Gallery, the Natural Heritage Centre and the Hanbat Arboretum, so plenty to do and see and you could easily spend a day here.

It is worth trying to find accurate information about opening times and current exhibitions before you visit, to save you wasted journeys such as we had. The website is still not showing the current exhibition, so other sources might be best to try.

Daejeon Museum of Art is the other public museum in the Daejeon Performance Art Center Complex. A special exhibit (that I wasn’t willing to pay 7000 won for) was taking place at the time in most of the display space, so the general area was limited to just one room. Even if there isn’t much going on inside, the grounds of the complex has plenty of sculptures to check out making the visit worthwhile.

This museum takes about 2 hours to cover. It's very pleasant, and the exhibits are clearly organized. Beautiful modern art.

Terrific little museum with a strong emphasis on the interface between Art and technology - as might be expected in a city like Daejeon! Nice cafe too.

The venue is great, seats a great for the price, we saw Carmen ballet and it was beautiful. Prepare to take bus/metro after the show gets done, taxis were scarce after the show.

Worth the visit. The building itself is interesting. It is located in the Daejeon Exposition Park by the river.
The subway stop is about a 20 minute walk. There are a few buses that stop closer.

Currently the DMA has a fabulous exhibition with modern art from the Asian Pacific; here until October, if I'm correct. (I went earlier this year and their works of local Korean artists was good as well.) It's a small, cheap, place with a lovely store and cafe, and helpful staff. If you go slowly and take it all in, including the grounds, you'll enjoy yourself. (I recommend a day of it- with exploring the Expo park nearby.)
