- alexSingapore, Singapore114 contributionsNice walk in a landscaped park... with cavesLovely park with nice clusters of different plants from bonsai to seasonal flowers, and even accessible caves! Most of the tastefully landscaped park had piped-in music like you get in a spa, which makes for a soothing walk among the greens. Place was well maintained. Worth the entrance fee for us as we like greenery. We took the public bus from the intercity bus terminal in Jeju city. Easily doable. The Hallim Park bus stop is near convenient shops and eateries at the nearby beach, so you can get your food and drinks there before entering the park, if you like. Enjoy!Visited November 2023Traveled with friendsWritten November 18, 2023

It is not spread over a vast area, hence you can easily cover the entire park within half an hour or at the most 45 minutes. At the entrance one can buy Jeju goodoes as well. There is a small cafe as well, unfortunately they weren't serving most of the items on the menu.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 18, 2023
- minSentosa Island, Singapore84 contributionsA beautiful park worth visitingThis park is definitely worth visiting, there’s something for everyone. It’s really large with different sections - from sub-tropical to bonsai, caves, folk village, lots of peacocks, birds and some reptiles too. Unfortunately I’m too early for the cherry blossoms, only saw the canola flowers. I would like to come back in another season to see the different flowers.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 11, 2024

Its quite a big park with different Themes Gardens. Including a Folk Village & cave.
As we have limited time, we did not go the longer Cave route. Just the Gardens & Folk village.
The sun was very hot & walking out in the open gardens for an hour was terrible. Anyway, the gardens are not so interesting.
Yes, it did have different plants & flowers but unless one has interests in plants- frankly its quite boring.

The grounds are amazing and beautiful. Different times of year you can see beautiful blooms like azaleas, hydrangeas, bougainvillea, etc. It’s definitely worth some time to see the natural beauty of the flora. The animal enclosures are very disappointing, because as a true natural park, you would expect better conditions for the animals. The caves are a good break from the sun and heat. They are a wet cave, so prepare to get drops on your head. They have a tour route that allows you to see everything. Recommend taking 2-3 hours to see everything.

This park is planned so well. The different sections together give an overview of what Jeju offers - beautiful plants and flowers, the tangerines, the caves. I especially enjoyed the Jeju Stone and Bonsai Garden and the Palm Tree Road, which are quite breathtaking. I could not go to the caves because of the steep paths. My family members did, and they really liked the caves and the experience, especially for the younger children. I strongly recommend Hallim Park to fellow tourists.

You should be geared for a long walk inside the park. The ticket is a bit pricey (11,000 won per adult) with nothing much to see. There are plenty of palm trees and different types of pine trees as well but not really very rare or special species. They have collection of tropical plants (bananas, guava, mango , etc) which I am sure tourists from Southeast Asia will find boring. They have lots of cacti although not very extensive collection. May be we came at the wrong time because there were only few flowering plants. Overall, quite a waste of time and money ( and energy too).

It is not only a botanical garden. They also have local animals on display, their cave system is quite big with three caves and their bonsai garden is beautiful. You could easily spend here a whole day. 12.000 won per adult sounded pricey at the beginning but these huge gardens and animals need a lot of maintenance and are in good conditions. We enjoyed our visit.

Hallim Park is a jack of all trades but a master of none. It is rather unusual to find a mini bird park, caves and gardens altogether in the same place (but not all of them were stunning). Some of the vegetation were not well maintained.
That said, if you enjoy viewing cherry blossoms and tulips, this is your chance. When we went last week, the cherry blossoms and tulips were in full bloom and they were absolutely a wonderful sight. We were hoping to see cherry blossoms in Jeju and didn't know we will catch them right here at Hallim Park. You can miss everything else, but don't miss these seasonal flowers.

What is the weather like in May and how would you get from the Port to Hallin Park. We will be on a cruise.
Written March 15, 2016
Getting around using rental car will be easiest in Jeju.
Rental Car are fitted with GPS navigation.
From port in the north of Jeju to Hallin Park in mid west will take almost an hour.
Note. U need an international license to rent a car in Jeju and unlike Australia, they do left hand drive.

Just remember to keep warm as the temperature is much cooler with the trees surrounding, moreover it is winter time. Wear a comfortable and non-slippery pair of shoes as the pavement might be a little slippery inside the mini caves. Umbrella is a need in case of rain and shelter area is very limited in the park.
