- Christian MCopenhagen, Denmark6,223 contributionsMouthwatering! Enjoy Your Dinner in 5-6 Rounds...On a late Friday afternoon and evening, BIFF Square is packed with food stalls and slightly larger dining tents - the sights and smells are mouthwatering! Here you'll find skewers with all kinds of meat and fish, dumplings for vegetarians, soups and fried fish, juices, and beer - all at extremely reasonable prices. Why bother with a stationary restaurant when you can stroll around in the festive atmosphere and enjoy your dinner in 5-6 rounds...?Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 10, 2024
- OHKSOHyogo Prefecture, Japan111,776 contributionsIt's better at night to get a taste of the street foodIt was daytime on weekends and the crowds seemed limited. Still, Top-rated stalls were already open and the stalls in front of the square were bustling. The original crowds seemed to come around sunset, so time of day had to be taken into account to get a taste of the atmosphere. Incidentally, if you are near this square, the nearest subway station is Chagarchi Station, and you could go to and from Chagarchi Market.Visited September 2024Traveled soloWritten September 21, 2024
- Lengmui852Greater London, United Kingdom264 contributionsGreat shopping spotIf you are in the area the square is literally next to a whole row of street food so you can’t really miss it. You wouldn’t even have to go to some restaurant because they street food are freshly done there & then! If you are just passing by, check out the handprints & autographs from famous Korean people.Visited November 2024Traveled with familyWritten November 24, 2024
- OHKSOHyogo Prefecture, Japan111,776 contributionsThere were queues at popular food stalls. It is an area where many stalls open. Normally it would be more crowded at night, but many stores were open during the day, and lines formed at the most popular of these, Hotk. Incidentally, there are some places with motorcycle traffic, so pedestrians should be careful.Visited November 2024Traveled soloWritten January 1, 2025

I started the food stall again today.
The lady who came spoke Japanese, and as an appetizer? she brought out ginkgo nuts on top of a fried egg on both sides. It was somehow delicious.
I ordered dancing octopus and grilled salted hagfish here.
I wasn't sure how the dancing octopus would taste, but it was pretty tasty. However, the portion was so large that you got tired of eating it.
The grilled salted hagfish was actually stir-fried with onions and garlic, and at first I was surprised by the texture, thinking that it had octopus or squid in it as well. I don't think you'd know it was stir-fried squid. It was pretty tasty.

Even though it was the weekend, there were surprisingly few people there.
All the same accessory shops, hat shops, and miscellaneous goods.
Sneakers and Oryan.
If you go to the back, there are some interesting shops.
The rates are bad and I was surprised that food stalls usually cost from 1,500 yen.
However, the food is delicious, although the ladies serving it are a bit pushy.
It's considered a town for young people, but there are so few people and tourists that it's worrying.
I felt sorry for the people there because there were nice people who were kind, even if it was just superficial and business-oriented.
I ate food from food stalls throughout my stay 😆

The street is lined with stalls selling a variety of goods from souvenirs, clothes, accessories and street food. The other streets are lined with formal stores like coffee shops, restaurants and electronic shops. For souvenir shops you can haggle but only a little and most will say the price is fixed. But if you buy plenty, they will give you some discount or free items. A good place to buy anything to take back home at a cheap price.

Located near to Jagalchi Metro Station, BIFF Square is a great place to go to shop for souvenirs and have great street food. Many stalls selling Korean snacks such as tteokbokki, fish cake, sundae and mandu, all within a reasonable price. Good experience to stand by a stall to eat food in the cold weather. Recommended!

Basically, this is not much different from the countless shopping streets found in every major city in Korea ( like Myeongdong in Seoul ) - its just a normal shopping street with the usual street vendors selling street food and merchandise, many shops & restaurants.
Of course, some are bigger & some smaller . And some sell more or have extra different products than others. But generally speaking, all are similar.
If you have been to Korea few times & visited different cities, probably you understood what I meant.

We went around BIFF square looking for a money exchange shop. The streets were filled with cute little statues depicting all sorts of movie characters. But, it was crowded with tourists and vendors.

Went here on sunday afternoon and the place was crowded. Busy street with many food stalls surrounded by shops. To be honest, we were too busy sampling the foods than looking for the remnants of the film festival. Short taxi ride from the gamcheon cultural village, can combine both within 1 day. Allowed 2-3 hours to wonder around.

If you love Hotteok, just drop to a Hotteok Seller in front of Olive Young. The taste is sooo yummy. Even better that the one that I taste in Myeongdong.
The street food market I guess is also cheaper compare street food in Seoul. And it less crowded as well.
There are several shops and outlets if you wants to shop or buy some souvenirs. so if you have more time, I guess better to shop here than in Myeongdong.

The feel around BIFF was like Myeongdong. But it has its own identity. The food around is so good and affordable. The stores are very colorful. Since it was in front of our hotel, I was walking in the area almost every morning and night.

Like Myeongdong Street but smaller. Not as busy as before but suppose the crowds will pick as time goes on. Every city has similar tourists shopping streets. Located near Jagalchi Market.

There are many malls, shops in this area, etc. It depends on the season. There was a typhoon when we visit so most shops close early due to transport issue.
It was tough to even get a taxi during such weather.
Otherwise, most malls closes by 10pm. For specfic malls, suggest you google directly as we visit during the day as we wanted to see the market after the cultural village.
Check before you head out is my advice,
Visit a specific area rather than just one tourist spot. This allows you to see more within a shorter period.
Knowing what you like to buy will help too cos different areas sell different items.
Do visit the local busan market...local handicrafts etc. This is unique.
Have fun!

Which of the stops on the BUTI city bus tour is nearest to Biff Square or Jagalchi fish market please? What else is of interest in this area please?
Thank you.

It is better to make your own tour, you have enough time to linger to certain place if you want. Transportation in Busan is more convenient than Seoul.
If you happen to stay at Haeundae area, it is easier to take public transportation. Do not forget to visit Haedong Yonggunsa Temple

I would suggest u directly message Olive & young store for more directions details, I don't think most of us would remember which shop available there or around the area unless they bought from the store from said store before.

I'd like to go to the Busan Film Festival this year and was wondering about hotel recommendations, preferably at least 3 star, within a mile walking distance. I'd like to be close enough to see some of the other attractions in Busan. We'll be arriving from Jeonju. Has anyone visited the film festival before who could offer suggestions?
Written March 10, 2015
Unfortunately, I haven't been to the film festival however I have been to BIFF square as well as the Jagalchi Fish Market which are within walking distance of each other. When you visit Busan I would highly recommend in order of priority: Gamcheon Culture Village, Jagalchi Fish Market, Busan Tower, and BIFF square (if you have time). Great Travels! or visit me at Buftravels!
