It sounded like fun to hear about ghost stories in a town close by to home. Our tour guide was a nice gentlemen who was very knowledgeable but the problem was communicating that information to the group in an interesting way. I felt like I was sitting in a classroom and ready to fall asleep at any moment. His delivery of the stories was disappointing. It was frustrating listening to him as it took him forever to get to the point. In the beginning of the tour, we stood for a long time as he told two very long stories. Too much standing for long periods of time. The tour seemed long and boring. After reading the other reviews and being on many different tours, the key is the tour guide. The tour has definite potential and a good tour guide can weave in the ghost stories into Albany's history. I certainly wouldn't say that the tour is scary but more historical in nature. Albany is rich in history and downtown Albany has many sights. It is unfortunate that our tour guide failed to point many facts and details out to the group which would have made it more interesting as we walked along. The tour went from the Albany Hilton on Lodge street up to the furthest end (west) of the Capitol. For those who are not in shape, the walk is uphill and some may find it strenuous. Make sure you know your way back to the starting point as we were just left at the Capitol at the end of the tour. We did have coupons for the tour so the discounted rate helped to compensate us for a far from great tour.

I found our tour to be more historical than spooky, however; I thought our tour guide was pretty knowledgeable about the area and it made me want to go back into Albany and visit some other attractions. All in all, we enjoyed it.

This was a very interesting event and highly recommend. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed it very much! If you're looking for something different to do, and learn something at the same time, this is it.

I thought it was excellent. I've resided in the capital region all of my life and this tour was rich in local history and lore. The guide was very knowledgeable and well versed in the stories. He spoke extremely well and was engaging. I would definitely recommend doing it, especially if you like history.

Not sure why some people had bad experiences. I think some people maybe expect actors to jump out at them in costumes or something of that nature. This is more of a walking tour seeing some famous landmarks in Albany and the stories and ghosts associated with them, not a haunted hayride or haunted house.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences with our ghost tour, it's very gratifying to know folks enjoy our efforts to share the wonderful spirited stories of Albany. You're right...some who take the tour are expecting "Hollywood" type experiences that will scare the heck'outta them...not true to our purpose to share factual tails of lore and history.

Two of my friends and I went on the Ghosts of Albany Walking Tour in early May. The group included four couples, our threesome and the guide. We met at the Albany Hilton and walked up State Street, through Capital Park behind the Capitol Building, over to the Education Building, back down Washington Ave, past Academy Park and City Hall, down pine and back over Lodge to the Hotel where we began the tour. It took about an hour and a half total, but we didn't cover more than a mile or so in distance. I won't get into too much detail, because I won't be able to do the tour justice, but we stopped at various locations while our guide educated us on not only the architecture, but also told us the stories of the "ghosts" that are rumored to be attached to those locations. Although I've lived in this neck of the woods most of my life, I was thrilled to learn all I did about some of the history of Albany. Our guide was informative and very entertaining and I would highly recommend this tour for anyone, whether you're a native of the area or just visiting.

SHOULD have had a microphone or some special apparatus but this was virtually a nice walk hearing some interesting tidbits seeing beautiful buildings. We strained because buses trucks and traffic masked most of the tour. Waste of $60 for the 4 of us. Really wanted to like this.

Our guide led us through the streets of Albany, regaling us with history and ghost stories. The tour was well planned and interesting. Our guide was knowlegable and entertaining. He explained what ghosts are and how they are created. In addition, he was willing to answer questions. Just a terrific experience!

My husband and I took this tour just this past Sunday night, 9/30/18. Our guide was Collin. He was very knowledgeable with historical facts, but that is pretty much all we got. A history lesson. The "Ghosts" portion of the tour were few and far between. I even heard two other women on the tour with me saying at the back of the group "we want more ghosts, not history". Collin was a nice guy, but not that great of a story teller. I heard another guest say she fell asleep while we were sitting on the wall outside of the justice building listening to a really long story. The story would have been better had the guide not gone off on a tangent about something irrelevant right in the middle. Disappointed to say the least. Wish I had saved my money. Maybe other guides have more ghost stories? Even their ad says "We are positive that our tours will enchant, entertain, inform, and scare you." It informed, but that is about all it did. He also ran late and I couldn't wait for it to end.

This tour was awful. Our guide was more interested in telling bad jokes than clearly relating facts about Albany's history and lore. I've taken tours in the past with true Albany historians that were wonderful and fun -- this was neither! I was also embarrassed to have an out-of-town guest with us. Save your money!!

We found the tour with Hattie to be a bit dull. A lot of standing around. Our guide had difficulty completing her thoughts and was often out of breath (even after standing for long periods of time between very short walks) which made what she was saying difficult to follow. She told us some cool things about the history of Albany. That was probably our favorite part. Generally, a boring tour and we couldn't wait for it to be over.
