I never do this but was compelled to share my great experience. Fabulous atmosphere and even better food. Had the Pita Pile (think gyro nachos or deconstructed gyro) - phenomenal and the home made falafel took it over the top. The French onion soup was the best I have ever had with the perfect combination of sweet onions and loads of savory cheese (the extra side of toasted bread provided a means to sop up every last drop). The sausage roll was absolutely delicious with a flaky crust encasing the flavorful sausage.

Great little pub with lots of ambiance and atmosphere. They are renown for their delectable fish and chips (for good reason) and great variety of brews. They have live music on the weekends and you can usually park on the street or In a nearby lot.

While the menu is pretty limited, the beer selection is good and the atmosphere is fun.
We went during restaurant week and were looking forward to the Wellington salmon. Unfortunately, since the Palace had an event, the restaurant chose to offer only 4 items until 8:00. Making the best of the situation, we ordered the fish and chips....better than we had recently in London!
Our waiter was charming and even suggested that I try a snakebite ( hard cider topped with Guiness) Perfect!

Wow! This place exceeded expectations! Excellent spicy cod served on lentils and vegetables. Very fresh and sooooo wonderful , good tai wings as well. Would have given an excellent rating but the French onion soup was quite salty. Fix this and you are A+ rated.
Service was great as well. Will be back!!

Wasn’t crowded when we arrived about 1:15 on a Friday for a light lunch. It's just a short walk from the visitor's center and has an authentic, “pubby” feel, kind of dark, rough hewn and loud rock music played. Our waitress was friendly and helped expedite our meal so we could make it to a Schuyler House tour. The black bean burger and steak fries were fresh, hot, and tasty ... but a bit pricey. The exterior is pleasantly welcoming, with plantings, the Union Jack, and a red phone booth.

It’s about a 3 ½ mile walk to view all twenty of the Nipper dog statues scattered around downtown Albany. That can build up quite a thirst.
So as we finished our tour ‘d canine where we started, in front of the Olde English Pub & Pantry, it was the perfect opportunity to find relief and cool off with a draft. A lot of things have changed since I first wrote about Olde English six years ago. You no longer need cash, although they still have an ATM on site, and you no longer need to pay for your drinks at the bar before taking a seat at a table. Those are all changes for the good. Maybe even that final half-star good.
I had a pint of Firestone Walker’s nitro Merlin Milk Stout ($7) while my wife had her longtime favorite, Fuller’s ESB ($7). She was so thrilled to have once again had the ESB. I was amazed by the creamy head on my Merlin. Its head was so thick and creamy it reminded me of a milk shake.
For a quick bite we tried their Scotch Duck Egg ($8) and Avocado Chips ($10). Yes, the scotch egg is actually made with a duck egg, prompting my wife to comment how large the egg looked. Making the scotch egg doubly good was the use of duck sausage. The breaded coating was crisp and everything tasted well together with pickled shallots, mixed greens and whole grain mustard on the side.
The avocado chips might be my favorite over the ones found at another local establishment that first turned the capital district on to breaded and deep fried avocado slices. So crispy on the outside yet creamy on the inside, they came with curds of Yorkshire Fettle (a British feta), blueberries, spinach, a spicy aioli, and lemon & chili flakes. Put a little bit of everything in your mouth and the flavors pop.
It’s a great relaxing atmosphere in this old Albany house, and service is quick and friendly. Yes, I’m ready to add that final half star.

Small comfortable location. Good selection of beer, whiskeys, etc. Beer is always good and atmosphere is comfortable. Now accepting credit cards, which is a plus.

Went as part of my birthday celebration. It's the same company as Bombers and Wolff's, with the same type of setup for your birthday. Here you get a giant cup of "tea"; I opted for an English cider they had on draft. This being the last stop on the birthday trail, I didn't get much food, just the Cheddar & Ale soup and the Beef Wellington Bites. Both were good though not outstanding. It was a nice day, so we sat on the patio, which is always helps.
FYI if you go to all 4 restaurants on your birthday for your freebies (Bombers=margarita, Sciortino's=pizza slice, Olde English Pub=tea cup, Wolff's Biergarten=the boot) then you also get a free birthday t-shirt.

I go there for the Belhaven Wee Heavy, which is not found on tap in too many places. The bartenders are very friendly and when the weather's right, sitting outside is great. I been there with friends, to watch the World Cup (note: this is not a sports bar), and to just have a beer. The food is bar-foodish, but at the higher end. This is the same owner as
the Biergarten and Bombers Burritos - and has the same sense of authenticity and quality. I like the place.

I was so surprised to see no review had been made of the Olde English Pub and Pantry. Great beer selection, ciders, scotch, Irish whiskey and pickle backs (a local favorite). Food is good English pub food-shepherds pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips. Not an extensive menu but very creative. Trivia on Mondays. Cask beer in the back room. All wrapped up in a quirky building reputed to be Albany's oldest. Great backyard for the summer months.
