Did the Albany Distillery tour which began at the distillery and ended with an extensive tasting. So much fun and informative. Definitely will return with others for more tastings 😉. Was surprised how delicious the rye whiskey was. Just in time for summer their cucumber vodka was a must have!

Honestly if you are in the Albany area you have to try out the tour. It’s rare that you find a owner that’s passionate about his craft as well as warming the hearts of people! One of the owners conducts the tours and is extremely down to earth and welcoming. We just finished our tour and I had to write a review.
Make it a point to learn about the process of bottling bourbon, vodka and/or whiskey. Whether you understand the process or not you will be captivated and informed. Then afterwards you will enjoy a variety of tasting ; as well as having the option to purchase what the bar has to offer. I look forward to future visits at the bar as well as what’s in store for the wood fire pizza etc. great place and great people. From my girlfriend and I, thank you for a pre Valentine’s Day gift

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this 2 year old small distillery. There aren't a lot of new attractions to see in the Capital District, but even if there were, this one would be high on my list of places to spend an hour. The tour begins in the loading dock where we were shown the raw materials -- all NYS grain -- and the small piece of equipment used to grind it. We then proceeded into the single room where all the rest of the action takes place. We had a great explanation of the process by the 3 staff members of the operation and then had the opportunity to sample three of their whiskeys. While I am not normally a fan of straight whiskeys, I enjoyed the smooth rich taste of all of them, even the clear, unaged one that was our first sample. Tours seem to be scheduled only on Tuesdays and Saturdays and are reasonable at $5 per person. We had a Groupon that cost a bit more but included two cocktail glasses to take home. Note that they ask for reservations because of the limited size of the place. They also serve cocktails on site and will sell bottles of their products.

This place Rocks!! A must see, Matt will show you the distilling process from start to finish in layman terms you can understand. The product is expensive but worth it all the way. It is attached to the Albany Pump house so you can go right next door like we did for dinner after your tour

My husband and two friends from out of town visited the Albany Distilling Company about a month ago. We were not sure what to expect but figured we would go and check it out and hopefully support a small, new, local business. Our tour guide, one of the co-owners, was extremely enthusiastic about their products and their process. We learned so much about the distilling process and were even able to have a sample of whiskey at the end of the tour. Thanks to the Farm Act, this is the first distillery in Albany since Prohibition and all of their grain is locally sourced. I highly recommend checking them out.

I stopped in Albany for business and had some free time in the evening. I saw that there was distillery in Albany within a 15 minutes walk. Decided it was worth a visit. The actual entrance looked a little sketchy since there were no windows and looked like it led into a warehouse. This is the correct entrance. They had a large cat inside and the tour was informative. After the tour, we sampled a few types of whiskey. You had the option to order mixed drinks as well. It's a small place but worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood.

An unplanned stop after having lunch next door. The tour was simple, you pretty much stand in one place. I thought it was a little too long, but my partner thought it was a little too short, so there you have it. Passionate owner. Distinctive whiskey and rums. The price of $5 per person was not clear until it was over; apparently there are Groupon (or the like) deals out there, if you are interested in trying to save some money. Easy parking.

The efforts of the gentlemen putting together Albany Distilling Co. are paying off. These passionate men clearly love their work. Informative tour, you get science and practicality at the same time explaining the distilling process. The tasting portion came with three tastings and completely approachable explanations of whiskey. If you are interested in bourbon, whiskey in general, or the distilling process, this is THE place to visit.

Once we got over the fact that the main entrance is actually though the loading bay of the next door Albany Pump House, we were met by an enthusiastic John, one of the co-owners. The next hour was not really a tour but more of a visit as it is only one large room, but we got a detailed and fascinating run through how whiskey and rum are made. A lot was learnt about how whiskey is made and how different things give totally different tastes. After the 'tour'... we were treated to a sample tasting of the whiskeys they produce there. The two co-owners have put a lot in to the business and despite their obviously long working hours, they still find the time to meet the public and give a friendly and entertaining visit to the distillery. There were about 15 people on our visit and all of them agreed it had been a good afternoon. We used Groupon and as a bonus we each received a complimentary whiskey glass with their logo on it as a souvenir.
