The people were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice display of the USS Albany past and I the recent past, dioramas of early Albany and when we were there,a very nice display from a local artist. The neighboring building, one an English style pub, is the oldest building in Albany - some interesting architecture.

All questions were answered fully and additional travel ideas were given to us by Deb. This was our second visit to the center and each time her assistance was very much appreciated. Bob and Betsy. From the Boston area

As one of the oldest settlements in this part of the USA, the records here go back a long way. The 1695 census particularly impressed me. The diorama time-line, while fairly basic, is a good starting point. A number of school children were finding it fascinating during my visit. Found staff helpful and very knowledgeable.

The Albany Visitors Center, is all about the History of Albany, with a planetarium thrown in! There sure is a lot of things that were made in Albany. Come & learn about the Albany of yesterday, that you never knew about.

We are so happy we stopped in to get our bearings, this is a fun insightful look into not only Albany but Old Amsterdam, Early America, and the creation of New York State. Very helpful attendant at the desk helped us plan our stay and even made us what to extend our stay in the city. We were impressed with... More

Lots of brochures for local attractions but not much else. The elderly volunteer was markedly unhelpful and did not seem to know much. The whole vibe was very sleepy. Did I wake him up?! I didn't get the sense that Albany is a happening place. Lots of room for improvement. Needs a revamp.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It is always helpful to have feedback so that we can improve our visitor experience. Your comments will be taken into consideration, however, I am not sure if your review correctly reflects our location because we do not have elderly employees on staff. More

My husband and I were visiting family in Albany and made this one of our priorities. I had been here for the first time a year earlier with our daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. I knew my husband would love it as both of our families come from the Albany area. Even though we have lived overseas for 40 years,... More

Do yourself a favor and make a special trip to visit this outstanding facility before touring Albany. The entire staff is most wonderful and the exhibits, brochures, maps, and other information will especially encourage one to explore this beautiful city. This year's Visitor Guide is particularly outstanding and thoroughly chronicles every aspect of this most fascinating city. It lists many... More

I was mainly on Quackenbush Square to see a brewery and Pub but wandered into this small Museum, the person working the desk an older lady was very helpful and suggested other place in NY to visit while I was touring NY. Altho small the museum has a lot of interesting facts about Albany and I enjoyed my visit there.... More

Historic exhibits, helpful docents, lots of good information about the history and sites in Albany, interesting items in the gift shop. What's not to like?? We were lucky enough to snag one of the few free parking spots near the visitor center. We were especially interested in the bronze model of the U.S.S. Albany, on display near the information desk.... More
