many websites say this is an easy walk. i definitely would not consider it easy. maybe compared to the other of the 46'ers? who knows. expect a lot of rocks, a few spots where you will be running up large, smooth rock surfaces, a couple...More

I am in my early 60's, and recently took this trail to the summits of Cascade and Porter. Bottom line for older hikers is that this trail is challenging, but pays off with big Adirondack views. The trailhead is on State Route 73 between Lake...More

Easy to find entrance to trail. Arrived early (8:30am on a weekday) and was able to find parking. We hiked Cascade and Porter in 4 1/2 hours. It was very muddy in places, especially going over to Porter Mountain. Hiking boots a must!

While staying in Lake Placid my husband and I decided to do some hiking. After looking at a few trails we came a cross Cascade. One of the locals at our hotel noted it was the easiest of the other peaks. Although we haven't hiked...More

Get there early, the parking will fill up quick and then you have to park farther down the road. It will be one of the busiest high peaks for good reason... amazing views and length of the overall trip. You can easily get to summit...More
