I bought a pair of earings for my wife there nine years ago, and went back there this summer to buy some earings to my 2 daughters in order to offer them when they will be 18.
Seychelles pearls are typical grey/gold which is quite rare and you can buy one pearl or jewels (earings, bracelet, pedants).
These pears are quite expensive but not that much regarding pearls prices in Europe, and considering their particular color (haven't seen a lot in Europe)

People already complained about high prices in this shop. There have a story behind these prices: black pearls from Seychelles that you can buy only from them. Even then it is not clear why these pearls are more expensive than those from Tahiti which are sold in other stores in Seychelles.

We bought a set anyway: ear rings and a pendant and were willing to buy more. Unfortunately, the sales manager did not want us to do that as the time was 10 minutes to 4 p.m. and they are closed at 4. Apparently, she is not motivated to sell being on flat salary - I think, it is a big mistake of the owners if it is a for-profit business with prices above average.

As for good investment mentioned in another review, I don't think so. Unless we are talking about high qulaity diamonds, non professional players will hardly be able to sell their stuff at the price they bought - no liquid secondary market for black pearls. Then buying a black pearl necklace for 15 thousand euros in this shop you just buy the beautiful story that they showed you on TV in the next room.

The Pearl Farm is a black pearl factory in Praslin Island, not far from the airport. There one can learn something about the formation, growing and valuation of pearls. In one of the outbuildings of the resort some clamps and several kinds of pearls are exhibited in display cases so that one can observe, among other aspects, the different sizes and shapes of pearls which can be obtained through clamps upbringing. At the same place a video movie can be watched. It’s supposed to show the manufacturing process to be followed to get a commercialisable pearl particularly on the basis of the size thereof.
Apart from that outbuilding, in the open air, there are several shallow pools for oyster culture. The pearls are created in the oyster shells when a foreign object goes into the oyster. A long time (some four years) must elapse before a nice medium sized pearl is formed. The isolation of that object by some layers of mother of pearl, a bio mineral consisting of lime and organic material, is required therefor. It’s interesting to know some details about that process, which can be learnt in that farm.
There is also a shop by the farm, as part of the same concern, where pearls, jewllery and souvenirs are sold. The prices however aren’t cheap.

We tried to visit the Pearl Farm. We went there at noon, and there was a lady sitting in front of the building. When she noticed that we were coming, she said "Hello", stood up, went inside the building and closed the door in front of us.
Then she disappeared and we could not see her - or anyone else - anymore.
Rather rude way to handle potential customers...

This small and idyllic farm right on the beach is nothing like the typical farm I am used to. This family-owned business offers customers a guided tour of their mussels, with information on how the beautiful black pearls are grown. very informative! Even cooler to buy a pearl from the delicate and charming little shop after you learn where it came from! I would recommend everyone to visit this gem of a business, but don’t expect super modern facilities, this is local, traditional, but charming!

This place is not a pearl farm and as a mater of fact they dont even have a live oyster. We just get robbed by paying 100 rp to watch a 5 minutes video about pearls and see the clams that they have in their pools.
The pearl shop is rediculous expensive and actually you can found pearl jewlery of higher quality with certifficates in the one third of the price at the Praslin or Mahe airports.
Dont loose your precious vacation time.....

I went to Praslin some time ago. I wanted to see the pearls, and although the place was closed, they opened it for me and my partner.

No charge, I purchased a very rare string of pearls for myself, about $10,000, and the whole experience was wonderful. My girlfriend, quite surprised that I had fallen in love with these seedless pearls did not want anything..............but I will be taking her back!

We visited the shop in January and purchased some earrings under the impression that they were priced in seychelles rupees. We paid using credit card and failed to spot the price was in fact in euros. We understand that the shop now clearly displays its prices in euros. But this has been a very costly error and one the shop has been completely unsympathetic to in terms of offering a refund. Apart from that, there is very little to see from the tour .. a few colourful clams and a rather 1970s ish video of pearl farming. Avoid and go to the Seychelles tourist board shop where you get honest treatment.

Disappointed that they do not take you to their actual farm where the pearls are produced.

Not sure why they charge for just a short video.

Don't bother paying the fee to watch the video - waste of time and money!

Also, the jewellery that they had for sale was pretty pricey for what it was.
