The ocean is very rough at this time of year due to the SE monsoon. It is not safe to swim along this coast. Nice to look at the waves but winds are strong so you really can’t sit on the beach. Head to the west coast or NW

Really nice place, there are lots of cheap eateries, you can get to Anse Royale by local bus. The bus stop is only a few steps to the beach. Lots of glorious sunshine and shade for when the temperatures get too high! If you are visiting the Seychelles I would recommend this as a place to stay, very central.

This was a fabulous excursion that my wife and I could enjoy last year. Mahe Island is simply beautiful and Anse Royale Beach itself, a total delight. The expanses of brilliant white sand and inviting azure waters made for an unbeatable combination.

One of the must see beaches Mahe, along with Beau Vallon beach.
The only disadvantage of the beach is a narrow shoreline.
Other than that it's a nice beach to spend a half-day in.
Good for swimming, snorkeling, next to the main road, a parking area, nice views, and lovely locals who offer you the best of Seychelles fruits.

Anse Royale on the South East coast of Mahé is a long beach of white sand where you can swim and snorkeling usually. The panoramic of the bay with the village is splendid... Unfortunately, the climate change has also here strong effects. Main time and especially during high tides, the sand beach disappear completely under water... A new jewel of this world touched by our way of life... Seychelles islands, are really under the impact of the elevation of the sea level, you could see there everywhere, even if the humans try to fight locally to hide the things... A lost cause.

This is probably the worst beach we've been to in the Seychelles. There are not trees so you are bound to get a sun stroke. Restaurants are expensive and food choices are horrible. Parking is virtually inexistent.

Best beaches are on north side of the island, e.g., Beau Vallon.
Save yourself a head ache and do not go to Anse Royale, or at least do not stay close to it and rent a car. Would recommend highly OKAP car rental for that.

This is the second spot where we went for snorkeling after ASDA. Our ASDA experience was just average due to the seaweed and relentless rains, so we were hoping this one to be better. In the end, we couldn’t have asked for more. The day was clear, just like the ocean, and we could have spent the entire day on the beach snorkeling and sunbathing, had we not had time constraints. We decided to stay in the shallow region since we were new to snorkeling and my wife wasn’t confident about her swimming, and yet, the water used to get deep suddenly (from waist level to eye-level) in some region (It may be the case in all beaches/snorkeling spots, I am not sure). However, we saw some marvellous fishes even in the shallow part. Anse Royale beach doesn’t have anything at the beach, so it’s better to carry some food and water if you plan to spend some good 3-4 hours here (which is also recommended).

We were trying all different beaches during our 9 days on the island and swam and snorkeled on this beach at least 4 times. It is very calm, as the reef is far out and breaks all the waves. Snorkeling was good with many fish species to see, even while raining.

Absolutely beautiful crystal blue waters and rock formations at the end. Stunning view on a small island. Just be aware not to leave your bags - we didn’t see any security around so we were cautious.

Swimming in clean and crystal clear waters punctured by granite columns is a unique experience. But when i tried going down for a swim at Anse Royale at high tide, there was no beach where I could leave my towel, T-shirt and shoes. Sadly, the road is built too close to the foreshore . . .
