We have an afternoon to spare and the hotel staff recommended us to take the Anse Major Trail. The trail itself is not hard and with rocks up and down the coast. It took us about an hour 15 min to finish. We were told at the end of the trail there is a beach and we can take water taxi and it will drop us off right in front of our hotel since our hotel is on the Beau Vallon Beach. Well, when we got to the beach, there is no one there. There was a sigh with telephone number we can call to get water taxi but there is no phone connection of any sort. So, we were stranded. We were fortunate to find a family of tourists who drove and our hotel is one their way. But, they parked the car at the beginning of the trail. So, it means we have to walk the trail again for the ride. We were lucky that we are relatively fit so we can walk the trail again. But, without any water taxi driver at this beach and with no phone service available, it is not a good situation to be in whether the trail is pretty or not.

Please take caution when you select this trail. There is only a small beach at the end. The whole trail takes about 2 hrs one way. Be careful as you might be stranded, as there are high changes there is no boat to get you back. And adding to it, there us no cell reception anywhere. We had to come back the way we came. There are allot of challenges while walking and few steep edges. All in all, you can skip this as there is nothing unique about this trail

Absolutely do this, views are amazing and the beach at the end stunning and lovely for swimming. You can get a beer and some food at the beach too.
Definitely wear trainers, we passed a few women with wedges on - respect!!!! However no clue how they managed the climb as it is challenging in places.
Bring lots of water and hot for anyone scared of heights as there are some serious drops.

One of the few easily accessible hiking trails on Mahe. Moderately strenuous track not far from Beau Vallon with coastal views and ending at a pretty beach. (Complete with bar!)

Trail is about 1.5 miles each way, but only about one third is shaded, which makes it harder in the heat. Took us about 50 mins each way.

Good hike with a lovely beach at the end. Goes without saying take plenty of water as it’s hot walking in the Seychelles. There is a small bar/shop at the beach where you can buy water, coconut or food. Beautiful beach. I think there is a taxi boat you can catch a lift back with. We didn’t. 2km walk from the road. Where trainers although I did see people in thongs. Don’t walk too far from the well trodden path as there are spiders in the trees. Enjoy

The Anse Major Trail is a great coastal path in the north of Mahe, which leads to Anse Major over a distance of 2 km (so there is hardly any shade when the sun is shining).

The path itself is rocky - compared to other trails - but we found it easy to walk. Most of the time you have great views along the way, but there are still two official viewpoints.
And because it is so beautiful, plan enough time - the path alone can take an hour (one way), including photo breaks and "looking around". As a reward, a beautiful beach awaits you at the end.
If you arrive by car, please note that there are very few parking spaces.

We walked from our hotel in Beau Vallon. Great trip suitable for everyone, but it's hot so remember to drink enough anyway. Several nice viewpoints along the way. Finally, you end up on the beautiful beach, which also has a beach bar. There is a taxi boat that you can choose to take back, but we chose to go.
