I took tour 1 (paddling with the apostles) with Walk On Water in September 2019 and it was an amazing experience! It was my third visit to Israel, all with intense visitation to the most diverse tourist sites, and those hours with Dr. Amit, his staff and two other couples of tourists was certainly one of the most enriching experiences. We met in Amnon Bay, and after a brief orientation on the use of the equipment, we proceeded at a pleasant pace of paddling through the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), with Dr. Amit guiding and passing on information about the fauna (especially ornithological) of the region, as well as historical and religious events that took place by the lake. The group made a few stops to visit the tourist sites, and in one of them - the Greek Orthodox Monastery - we were delighted with a local goodies brunch brought by Dr. Amit (fresh coffee, bread, hummus, nuts, etc.). Wonderful! Anyone who wants to see the itinerary and more pics, there is a tracking log of the tour on Wikiloc, search for "Amnon Bay Tagbha Paddling with the Apostles"

It is our 3rd trip with walk on the water (and we are not professional Kayak persons), we took the north Jordan trip. we actually paddle in the Delta of the Jordan river with amazing wildlife – Herons, Harriers, and many others birds, and fishes that some time jump near the Kayak. It is a real no-man land. After a very nice brunch that Amit (the Guide and the owner of the company) carry in the kayak and a refreshing swim we start to pedal on the sea of Galilee, the lake was so beautiful. Amit from walk on the water has so much knowledge about the history and the wildlife of his area. He knows so much about early Christianity and he mange to give us some thing which is much more that just kayking. For sure we will come for 4th trip..

Its not just another Kayak ride, it's a chance to see Galilee from another perspective! The history, and conversation on the way were enriching. Even if you have no experience on a Kayak, they teach you the basics, and provide good instruction. Fun for the whole family, and accessible for all skill levels.

This is a must! Forget the crowded- cheesy "Boat Tours"-- let Dr. Amit take you out on the Sea. He is a brilliant guide and his passion for the region makes the trip a deeply meaningful experience. The quiet picnic breakfast in the garden at the Greek Orthodox Church Capernaum complete with fruit, nuts, goat cheese, fresh bread, and coffee-- was a highlight! There are even peakocks that come to visit for a nibble of cashews.

We are a family of six, and this was our first trip to Israel. We rented a van at Ben Gurion Airport, and drove ourselves to AirBnB's in Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Galilee/Tiberias, and the Mediterranean area. This paddling tour across the northern edge of the Sea of Galilee was our favorite thing to do on the entire trip, because it combined outdoor beauty and adventure with history and culture. Amit Lotan is amazing. I laughed when he handed us bottles of sunscreen, and told us to take plenty of them because he manufactures the stuff. But he wasn't joking! He earned his PhD in Biology with research time in California, and then patented a sunscreen formula that protects against jellyfish stings (an unneeded bonus in Galilee, where there are no jellyfish). Now he owns a company that manufactures sunscreen, and he provides kayak tours on the side mostly for the fun of it. I found myself trying to keep my kayak closest to Amit, because he was a fount of knowledge. We had just visited the ancient archeological site of Gamla, and I was curious what Amit knew about it. Guess what, Amit's friend is the one who discovered Gamla, after it was lost for 1,500 years! And Amit helped with some of the site excavation. He told us how his friend read the historical battle accounts of Josephus and followed his clues to the site. You can ask Amit about almost anything in the Galilee area, and he will know the answer. The only people on our trip were our family of six, plus Amit invited the farmer and his wife who regularly provide him with fresh produce that he serves as a picnic to all of his customers in the middle of the trip. You know the food is fresh when you eat it with the people who grew it. Amit's kayaks are very sleek and streamlined, with very little paddling resistance. For our family, everyone was in a tandem kayak. The stops along the way, including a swim on a secluded beach near the end of the trip, made it feel very leisurely even though we traveled quite a long distance in total. We were interested in the Christian stops, and Amit was very knowledgeable in describing the various sites and denominational structures along the shoreline that we visited. Of course, he also identified all of the birds and wildlife around us. I did not ask, but my impression was that Amit is a Jewish person who is familiar with the New Testament, and has a deep respect for Jesus as a moral and ethical reformer. He is proud of the Galilee area, and described how the confluence of cultures and travel routes provided the perfect environment for Jesus' childhood, teachings, and ministry, before he went off to Jerusalem. Amit allows time during the picnic for people of faith to share their views, so come prepared to share something meaningful while overlooking the beautiful waves of the Sea of Galilee. Despite the "Walk on Water" allusion to Jesus, I would recommend a trip with Amit for people who are not of the Christian faith, also, because he knows so much about the biology of the lake and the multi-cultural history of the region, and is willing to structure his tours to your particular interests. If we visit Israel again, I would want to take another kayak tour just to spend more time with Amit! --Wes S.
