The Synagogue-Church in Nazareth is probably the synagogue where Jesus began his public teaching. Here he came on the sabbat but one day he was given the book of Isaiah to read from it. His fellow citizens got angry when he heard his interpretation of the words of the prophet, and they chases his out of the synagogue. So this is one of the key points in Nazareth.

This was one of the few places in the Holy Land were crowds were not an issue, and we felt that the site was in his original state. We could "feel" Jesus getting up to read from the scrolls in the room.

A seemingly modest building is an excellent example of a first century synagogue which also represented the local meeting place. A well trained guide will also explain the history, customs and the local Gospel significance of the building.

We visited The Synagogue Church a while back, you go down the steps and inside there is a small alter with a picture showing Jesus preaching.

Ruins under the church of the Annunciation. Worth a look, interesting if you like that sort of thing - and I do....

Very moving. And surprisingly cool in the middle of the heat. It is easy to miss it in the maze of little shopping streets.

Not worth a journey by itself, but if you are in Nazareth and you are visiting the Basilica of Annunciation (which is very worthy of a visit), this place is a 5 minutes walk from it, uphill thru the market.

This place is a little off the beaten path, but well worth it. It's a peaceful little place, and I really enjoyed sitting there and contemplating if this was the place where Jesus went to Synagogue. Even if it isn't, He would have attended one very similar.

The Synagogue is quit plain but also beautiful antique building known as the synagogue were Jesus preached and also were Jesus prayed and studied when live in Nazareth.
This church is Greek Catholic the Matthew Gospel 13 speaks about Jesus preaching on a Sabbath and was greatly critiseded because it was not lawful working on a. Sabbath.
