Ok--the tree Zaccheus was in? Not really--it isn't that old. But it is a really old tree, and that story happened somewhere around here.

Bible story come to life. Jesus called a tax collector down out of this tree. This tree! You're in the living Bible.

This sycamore tree was very impressive for our pilgrimage group following the footsteps of Jesus. Although our guide explained that this particular tree is not possibly the original tree from the time of Jesus, we found it very meaningful to be in the vicinity of...More

Stopped here on my way back to Jerusalem after visiting Jericho and the Mount of Temptations. This is really just a tree in fenced Russian property said to be in the assumed location of the original sycamore tree. This is certainly not an attraction to...More

We stopped our bus to take a look -- some folks got out to take a picture, but the Zaccheus Tree is just a sycamore in Jericho. However, you HAVE to try the sycamore nuts that you can pick up at several spots in Jericho....More

Unless you are visiting Jericho on a tour of the biblical sights, I wouldn't suggest a special visit to see Zaccheus' Tree, as essentially it is a very old, large Sycamore tree. We just stopped as we were passing by to have a quick look.

For those who believe in the Gospel it's quite emotional. It's just a tree but if you have faith in the Gospel and understand what Zacchaeus and the tree mean, it's really fantastic to be there!

Once again, my information was based on our local guide's commentary; this point in the town is a very popular stop-off for tourists and it is an opportunity to re-visit the gospel's narrative. I don't consider it too... More
