About
The museum offers archeological remains, including magnificent mosaics from the Byzantine period, an ancient building and church and a courtyard displaying a variety of archeological findings. One of the museum’s wings is dedicated to the story, history and customs of the Samaritan community. We recommend rounding up your visit at the Moshe Castel Museum of Art in Ma’ale Adummim. The entrance to the Martyrius and Euthymius sites is for groups only, by prior arrangement.

I am so glad we visited the Samaritan Inn. It’s a treasure trove of beautiful mosaics garnered from Synagogues and Churches all over ISRAEL. One can only gaze in awestruck sober at the artistry of the intricate mosaics. It is also worth noting the dedication of the restoration work.
The ancient cave o the property is converted into a wee cinema and the film on the Good Samaritan is worth viewing. All in all it was worth the hours we spent there.
It is quite easy to see most of the mosaics even if you have difficulty walking.

Always wanted to go to see the mosaics- and so glad we did. We took a local bus and then walked for 15min (not advisable.... from safety and security perspective of walking along a highway). The museum is surrounded by glorious red dessert and the quality of mosaics are incredible. Museum is managed by the Israel Antiquities Dept and the staff is so caring and helpful.

the Good Samaritan Museum is located where the biblical story may have happened, but today is also the location where interesting and beautiful mosaics are kept to protect them.
Mosaics found in synagogues or churches of the Judea or Samaria regions.

A nice place to stop for an hour and have an idea of the size of temples of the early centuries of the Roman and Byzantine periods.

This is the perfect place to stop for a break driving from the Center of Israel to the Dead Sea.
You'll stop for about an hour to admire the well preserved mosaics and the interesting museum.
The view on the surrounding is beautiful and is another reason to stop.
As it is a National Park, you have all the usual and well kept amenities such as drinks and snacks (and not forgetting of course...toilets).

There are magnificent mosaic floors from many synagogues and other places of worship. Many artifacts are in the building. You can even sit down and try designing your own mosaic. There are giant mosaic floors on the grounds outside.

Since we have visited many ancient ruins, I have started enjoying the art of mosaics. They are beautifully displayed here.

On our way to the Dead Sea, our chauffeur proposed us to visit this museum and we did not regret it. The museum is just off the highway from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. We were the only visitors and having the whole museum for ourselves was a great experience. The place fitted Jesus’ parable about the man who “fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead”. The museum was originally built as a travelers’ inn in the Ottoman period. Nowadays, it is a museum so for people who are looking for a religious site related to Jesus they might be disappointed There are no cross or any visible Christian symbol. The museum has amazing mosaics from the Byzantine period which are displayed both indoors and outdoors. The large "Gaza" mosaic floor at the entrance to the site depicting animals is just amazingly beautiful.

We stopped here on our way back to Jerusalem after going to Masada. We found The Good Samaritan Museum to be interesting and well done. The most insightful thing we learned was from an informational piece recounting the background and relevance of the Good Samaritan story. We thought our brief stop here was very worthwhile.

This museum hold a unique collection of mosaics, and therefore it is a must stop on the way to the Dead Sea - only if you're interested in archaeology and/or the theological history of the Holy Land. The museum is very conveniently accessible from the main road, with free parking and a reasonable admission fee. Note that some exhibits are outdoors, which could be a challenge on hot summer days. Audio (self guide) is available for free.
