The Ilana Goor Museum, distinct in its dual purpose as both the gallery and private home of the artist, is a uniquely hidden gem in the old city of Jaffa. Housed in a historically rooted eighteenth-century structure, the museum allows visitors to see and feel the eclectic collection of famous Israeli sculptor Ilana Goor with Old Jaffa as a background storyline and setting. Within the walls of the beautifully-renovated structure lay over 500 artworks, both by Goor herself and by guest Israeli and international artists included in the museum collection. For the first time in Israel, you have the opportunity to admire works of art from the point of view of the artist/collector rather than as exhibits in a sterile academic environment. Despite the Museum's eclectic nature, each room features creations from different places and times. Each work of art has a different background and a story all its own. The Museum's uniqueness lies in the unexpected contexts generated by each artist, both on the human and on the visual level.

Already the buildng is worth a visit itself, as it is a 18th century house made of bright stone with vaulted ceilings. During a sunny day it is full of light and offers stunning views of Jaffa and of the Mediterranean. Then each piece of the collection has an history, a meaning. From kitchenware, to pieces of religious art, to... More

I'm not a fan of Goor's art but it's a beautiful house with very different things that she has collected throughout her life.

Incredible building full to the seams with interesting art. Beautiful rooftop (not a cafe) with great views. A nice spot to take a break from touring.

This museum should not be missed. Ilana Goor's masculine sculptural iron artistry is perfectly suited to this extremely impressive space. She clearly has an unerring eye for assembling stones, beautiful furniture, sculptures ancient and modern, and contemporary paintings (many of which pay homage to her) and infusing her home with a seamless, personalized blend of the contemporary and ancient. Her Canaanite, amazonian,... More

What an interesting home...museum..where the artist resides. So much detail in the art work....spend as much time as you like talking to proprietors.

Ilana Goor has been a very special person and artist and a great influencer of arts and culture. Never mainstream and always easy to identify. The Museum is a must-go for all, interested in arts and the role of Ilana Goor for temporary art and artists in Israel and over the world. You will really like it. The Museum itself... More

This includes here art and residence as well as items from her private collection. Open daily including on Shabbat and holidays. Very eclectic with both her work and that in her collection. Not air conditioned.
