About
Yarkon National Park includes two sites: The Source of the Yarkon River and Afek, that together form the green, serene lung in the heart of the most highly populated area in Israel. The beautiful, tranquil park has a wading pool, a magical lake and ancient fortress that dominates the area. The National Park offers a recreational compound and playgrounds, sport grounds, a family fitness trail, various walking trails, a campground and a picnic area (bonfires are permitted).

only if you want to picnic
May 2021
Ashkelon was a major city and port for centuries. The Park started as an archaeological site that was excavated many years ago.
Today there is not much to see. Remains of two churches, a good place for picnicking, a nice view of the sea.
No direction signs or explanation of the remains in the park, except a map that you get at the entrance.

In the middle of Ashkelon you will found history on history. Old harbur city,Water wells and much more. The archeological digs continue to revel layrs on layers of the local history. By car by foot or bicycle 🚲 you will find alot of Lanes to explore. In the holidays there are Educational activities for the environment, wildlife and vegetation of the area.

Oct 2019
A place to spend all day. Above - he ruins are interesting , well organized and you can take a nice walk with gorgeous views. Below - The beach is amazing. When we were there, the water was smooth, clean, refreshing. Lifeguards, bathrooms, shaded areas.

Very disappointing
Oct 2019 • Couples
We visited the park on Sunday during Sukkot. The entrance fee is 28 ILS per adult and we really expected to see something interesting. When you first enter the park there is a very nice archway with an explanation. Nice view of the ocean and beach below... And that's basically it. The rest of the park is not developed except for the camping area. We felt like we paid an entrance fee to subsidize the camping area... Not exactly the definition of National Parks in Israel!!!!!

Ancient ruins and beautiful park and beach
Dec 2018 • Friends
There are full facilities and lifeguard station at the beach at the national park.
There are many picnic tables and benches and BBQ stands.
The world's oldest stone arch gate along with the ancient wall of ancient Ashkelon are near the entrance.
There are ancient Roman ruins in another part of the park.
