Crusaders' Castle
Dec 2019 • Friends
This is an interesting place with excellent exhibits which gives you an idea of the past of this castle. There are also some games which you can try here as well. Recommended to visit.

Creative Historical Immersion
Dec 2019
Constructed in the late 18th century by the Ottomans upon the ruins of the 12th century Crusader Fortress, the Citadel was later used as governmental buildings and a prison by the British during the first World War. Currently the Citadel serves as a museum, creatively revealing glimpses into its past history while immersing the tourist through the vast complex and lovely gardens. Extremely enjoyable experience.

Puts the Crusade into Context
Nov 2019
The structure itself is very well-preserved, and you can absolutely imagine what a siege here would've looked like. Nowhere else in Israel can you experience as much of the Crusade as you can here. Unfortunately there are not very many artifacts left behind, and there are not a great numbers of signs and explanations. Still, a must see.

Parking may be difficult, and you may be better off parking outside the walls.

Dramatic architecture woos the photographer
Nov 2019
As an amateur photographer much of the tour of the Citadel was interesting. Many architectural features like arches and walls. The variety presents issues of lighting, but my DSLR with a zoom lens and range of ISOs did the job. Some quarters are tight, so travel light. Our tour finished by walking on the wall to a location on the water. We expected more on the Crusaders, so that was a disappointment.

A bit disappointing, though enjoyable for kids
Aug 2020
The architecture is amazing, but there are almost no artifacts. The information presented on the Audioguide was only partial. Surprisingly, our five years old daughter really enjoyed both the place and the audioguide, which made us quite happy :)

A real adventure
Mar 2020
The museum is wonderful - its exhibition is very cleverly arranged and keeps you intrigued, as a good book. It makes sense to buy a combined ticket to see all places of interest.

Impressive and well kept
Mar 2020 • Couples
I had been here ten years ago and was very impressed by the amount excavated since and by the dramatic improvement of the audio-visual equipment. Very well kept. A unique piece of history which should prove entertaining even to pre teens.

Trip into Crusader Time
Feb 2020
It’s impressive from the moment you step into the forecourt of the knights!
The ticket covers a range of sights within the old city. But the crusader citadel is truly breathtaking. It has been beautifully restored and excavation is ongoing. This is my second visit. However what is disappointing is that the main halls cannot be seen in their grandeur because men are hauling sound equipment; chairs and tables are stacked everywhere. Photographs have people butting in. Not nice. Having said that would I visit it again ? Yes. The exhibits are well labeled ; the films well produced and the audio guide does a reasonably good job. I don’t think it’s a sight for people who have a problem walking. Too many gradients , steps and cobbled surfaces.

Templar Knights
Mar 2019
This is a centuries old complex built for the Templar knights which was a convenient jump off point for their Crusades. It has great signage explaining the different facets of the complex which makes a self tour quite easy.

Recommend getting the audio guide to assist and after that you can choose what order you get everything done. It's so overwhelming to step back into time and see a building in such good condition after all these years.
