Was a great trip! Had a 3D2N hiking experience with Sunny's team and it was fabulous. I was a solo female traveller in my early 30s and I did the climb to Mt Rinjani solo with the guide he assigned me. My guide and 2 porters took such good care of me, always had my tent set up and fed me so well. Very grateful!

I had an amazing time throughout my whole experience with lombok trekking. Sunny was super professional and a great communicator. He made sure that my pick up from the harbour was easy, having a greeting sign with my name on it, and told me everything I could expect on the car ride to the hotel he arranged for me to stay in the first night. He even stopped at a nice restaurant for me to get a nitebto eat from a long day of travel. The whole trekking experience was even better. From a experienced, friendly and good English speaking guide named Nhaes, to the super happy and friendly porters Guinn and Tart, we made some great friendships and shared many good laughs along the journey. Those guys could do it all, cook, set up camp and catch fish at the lake. All meals were delicious and the views and climbs were breath taking...Nhaes was really patient and kind for a first time trekker and even managed to help them finish the whole route. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I can 100% confidently reccommend lombok trekking to everyone. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Sunny, Nhaes, Guinn and Tarr. I'll be back!!!

before I go I thought that I will be hiking up to the summit of the volcano. In fact, It was not. It a quite an interesting piece of the creation of the nature. The whole mountain is called Rinjani . There is a crater rim and we are hiking to the highest point of the crater rim. The volcano is in the valley of the crater rim and there is a lake too. Hot spring is near the lake. We did our hike on the last day of Hariraya. So a lot of guides and porters are not working. Therfore, It is good to check the holiday season before hand. We were planning to hire a guide only from the first place. in fact , no need to hire the guide as there is no way you can be lost on the trail but park ranger will encourage you to hire one. We couldn't get any guide but to our luck there is one guide from the other group from the guest house we slept over. We paid for the guide fee to the organiser and tag along. the organiser was lombok trekking runs by Mr.Hardy Kruger . There are some bad review about him but he was such a nice funny guy . Since we planned to hike pretty much on our own, whatever service he provided are all luxury to us. on our return trip , we were late to the base camp and couldn't make it to the Lombok city in time. Therefore, we have to sleep at his guest house and all the rooms are full. He let us camp in his compound for free and requested one of his guest for us to use their shower which is not attached to their room. Guests were so kind and let us shower there. Although the bathroom is not attached to their room, it belongs to their room. Where can we find such a deal! Although it doesn't need a guide to hike, it is good to have them as a contribution to their locals. Water is an issue. there is not much of the water source up there. The local need to manage the waste at the campsites as the rubbish are everywhere. It is better to hike from Sembalun to Senaru. light weight hiking boots or trail runner will do the job. I hike in my heavy weight backpacking boots and it was overkill which made me really tired. Oh, do not hire any taxi from Lember jetty from Lombok. Just walk out of the jetty and you can get a taxi easily at half of the price they asked at the jetty. We had learnt that the hard way. The taxi will charge you for two ways fairs but still half the price of what they asked at the jetty. We were late because of ferry , So we don't have much time to explore the alternatives. Just get the guy from jetty and go to senaru, in which we were supposed to go to Sembalun and booked guest house is there. So beware of those deals from the jetty from both side which is Bali and Lember jetty. Deal direct with operators at the village to get the best price and package.

This was an amazing experience. The challenge of it, and then then the triumph and elation is incredible. The different terrains and temperatures that you cover all add to a very memorable experience. This was our first hike, and yes, we did underestimate the challenge of it, so it is worth mentioning to be prepared. It can get incredibly cold, so pack appropriately, and don't forget warm gloves, or otherwise you're fingers will turn into sausages like mine did! We employed the services of Sunny and his team at Lombok Trekking. We were so happy with what was delivered, that I cannot recommend highly enough. From the organisation of it, to the food (which was in abundance and delicious), to our guide, Agut, our two porters, and the equipment. If you are a person that feels the cold, then I would suggest investing in a sleeping bag liner, which will provide you with a little more warmth at night. Merino clothing is best as it is warm when it's cold, but cool during the day (and lightweight). Take an extra two pairs of socks, and if you have dodgy ankles, tape them.
