To begin with, this beach has loads of potential. Sand is nice and the beach is long with many small restaurants, plenty of sun beds available but also areas without these for those who prefer a more “towel on the beach” setup.

However, we visited 1st of January and this was a huge mistake. It felt like whole Lombok and all kids on the island where at the beach. I estimated maybe 1500 locals on the beach. Since the amount of tourists are low here, you were not left alone for barely a second. Even though we walked to the very end of the beach, several kilometers away, we still had plenty of kids playing around literally by our feet.

Beach was dirty with lots of sea weed. Water also a bit murky with sea weed and some plastics to. Several motorbikes drove on the beach with very annoying music to sell ice cream and toys for kids. No where to relax...

There are for sure better options when it comes to nice beaches in Lombok. If you still plan a visit here, make sure it’s not while all locals are on holiday to.

Beware of agressive individual that threatens aggression if you don’t pay him. We had a very unpleasant and scary incident where he wanted to be paid (5x the going rate) for an umbrella and he threatened us by picking up a chair to swing at us and kicking us. Totally irate and out of control. Not worth it. Go to peaceful Mawun, Lansing or Selong Balanak beaches. All beautiful and safe.

Looks much nicer in photos. Sadly the beach is full of rubbish, mainly tones of plastic, which is also in the water. Plenty of beachfront bars/restaurants and free lounges. Large numbers of beach sellers too, which makes it less relaxing.

If your looking for beautiful powdery soft sand beach than this is the place for you. It didn't have much of a crowd on the day we went which is also why I think it was so clean. These are my main points for beaches and this one ticked off both. They have a few of those swings which people post on Instagram. The sand is white and so soft, the water is clear and turquoise color making it just like a postcard. There are some beverage/snack huts which lounger chairs. Only thing is there are dogs running around on the beach. It is a bit of a drive from Kuta but absolutely well worth it.While I have not been to all the beaches in Kuta, I have been to Gili T and this is way way better, if your staying in Kuta this is a must visit!

We went looking around Kuta for a good, beautiful beach. We visited a few and when we came across Tanjung Ann beach we decided right then....this was the one.
Sun beds are beautiful and free as long as you order drinks and food for warung.
Beach was white and sea turquoise.
Lots of litter in road before you get to beach and we almost turned around but so glad we went a little further and found this piece of heaven.
We loved it so much that decided we are spending our last day in Kuta on this beach again

I have been to Senggigi beach, Kuta Beach and the beaches on Gili Air but this beach is the BEST!

The awesome:
1) Soft powdery sand that is so comfortable to walk on
2) Little/no hard coral to cut you
3) The beach is gently sloping so you can walk all the way out in waist deep CLEAR waters
4) If you hate getting seaweed tangled around your limbs like me, certain parts of the beach are seaweed FREE.
5) Little tourists (we counted less than 10 tourists in the entire 2km of beach but many locals at the main beach area)
6) Little or no selling of trinklets/items by locals for obvious reasons
7) Waves that aren't too strong yet fun to play in

The Meh:
1) Well as expected of a secluded and hidden-non-touristy beach, it's difficult to get to. The roads there aren't always developed and you need an experienced taxi driver to get you there.

You're most likely staying at the main Senggigi area and this beach is a 2-3 hour drive away (approximately 480, 000 Rp for a return trip which includes a 3-4 hour wait by the driver) but definitely worth visiting.

Some points to note:
1) PLEASE get your driver to wait for you. It isn't very expensive (~20, 000 Rp/hr of waiting) and you don't have to get stranded once you're done with your fun. Don't worry, the drivers prefer waiting for you instead of making a trip back to Senggigi passenger-less. Just remember to provide your driver with some snacks and water while he waits =)
2) Please do not spread tanning lotions/oil/sun-block and jump into the waters. The beach is rather clean except for some sea trash (but seriously there're no beaches in the world that're absolutely trash-free are there?). It's ok to use sun-block and lotions but please try to maintain the cleanliness of the waters.
3) Please note that there are little/no amenities or food within walking distance. I understand that there's a restaurant somewhere along the beach but have not tried and not sure if it's open for business. Recommended to bring your own meals/drinks.
4) The closest hotel is the Novotel (for now) and I understand from the cab driver that the entire area nearby is being earmarked for the Mandalika Project. I did some research and the bulk of the project will only be ready in 4-6 years so try to head down to the area before it gets overly commercialised/touristy.

**If you need a trustworthy cab driver who can _converse_ in English (not all Bluebird taxi drivers are fluent in English), please contact me and I will provide the necessary information.

Disgusting! There is no other way to describe this beach!
Once a secluded paradise with hardly any turist, Tanjung Ann breaks my heart today.
I used to visit this beach 6 years ago and it was by far the beast beach ive ever seen!
It is no more!
Whats left of the sand is crowded with umbrellas and sunbends, warungs like in Kuta Bali and the sickeining instagram picture swings, one or two for every warung. Icecream selling motor bikes run freely on the sand.
The land behing the beach has been WALLED UP, devided between the many big hotel groups that will soon transform this former beautiful heaven into another pool/club fancy resort beach.
Huge Pay offs were offered to Lombok authorities to allow this crime, since corruption its in indonesian blood without any respect for the beauty and nature!
THE GARBAGE IS EVERYWHERE!!!
In the sand, on the water, under the water! It is impossoble to enter the water without touching some sort of plastic! Even seringes!
It is very very VERY sad to see what mass uncontrolled unregulated turism and ignorance have done to this place and others like Kuta lombok, that now has become a new Canggu.

Indeed immediately when you arrive you are urged to pay a "parking fee". When questioning where is says that you have to pay a parking fee or if I could park somewhere else the guy became very aggressive immediately yelling at me, kicking my motorcycle, hitting me on the head etc. Intolerable behavior. Please let you local embassy know of this criminal hot spot such that they can urge the Indonesian government to lock these violent people up.

It is 2 years since I last reviewed Tanjung Aan. I visit this beach about 3 times a week and it remains my favourite of all the stunning beaches on this bit of coast. These days I usually base myself at the far Western end of the beach at Warung Turtle. They have sunbeds and umbrellas which are free to use if you have a drink or some food there. I can recommend the chicken in red sauce, my favourite. There is a path heading up behind the warung which takes you on an amazing cliff top walk, You can find little deserted coves and maybe see monkeys. Or fif you don't feel like climbing the hill just follow the path to W. Turtle and the other side of Turtle rock is another beach which you will usually have to yourself, except on weekends and public holidays when the beach gets very busy.

The main car park is at the centre of the beach near the big rock in the ocean. The tour buses stop here so there are more people, more rubbish and more sellers so the western end is much quieter. There are small stalls selling snacks and drinks around the car park. There is also a public toilet there, contrary to some reviews that say no toilets. Parking is Rp5000 for a scooter and 10,000 for a car.

Boats at Tanjung Aan offer short trips to Batu Payung (Umbrella rock - named because of its shape where the bottom half has been eroded away by the sea. I have not done the boat trip but have heard prices of Rp100,000 - 300,000. You can also reach Batu Payung from another car park at the far Eastern end of the bay and then walk. It must be low tide and the rocks can be a bit slippery.

Enjoy your visit
