First of all, I must say that I was impressed by all the positive reviews, but then I understood: the number of reviews is very low compared any other place here! And that's because the people that were disappointed didn't even care about losing time with a review. How do I know? I met 3 of them around kuta ahahah! Everything in Nalua is really basic, it looks like everybody does the absolute minimum to run the activity. The girls in the kitchen are there only to cook pancakes and banana bread, that's the only thing that you will eat for a week (seriously), but don't expect them to be nice with you. The staff is friendly with you only during the "surf guiding" time, after that you're only a client, so forget going surfing toghether or taking a beer after work. If you only need tips to go somewhere, the manager answer was "you're not my friend, pay the surf guiding for that!". (pretty expensive and useless for an intermediate surfer). The surf guides are all freelancers, nobody really control them, like in every other camp. So how do they know if theyre job is good? They don't! Ahahahah. it's JUST A JOB for them. That's it. It really takes only 3 or 4 days traveling around to understand that in every other place everybody is competitive, so expect cheaper prices ANYWHERE else, and amazingly friendly staff, at anytime during the day. Thank God it's not just impression, since I spoke with 2 ex guests and the all think the same. Good for couples that want to stay by theyr own, pretty girls that the guides seem to like a lot speaking with, and people that buy the whole surf package that is overpriced compared to all the other offers here. Airport drop of answer: better looking with the guy next door, price is the same. I got sick for one day, nobody was nice with me as in the other hostel (it's only a job for them, remember). a lot of noises due to work in progress next door, but nobody warned me. Guys I found a 3x cheap hostel nearby, the staff was really another level, the rooms way more suggestive, and more important: a real common space to meet other people! Where the staff would NEVER dare sitting there and chatting for hours, but always asking you if you're OK and willing to help for ANYTHING. Staff: No one really friendly, it's just a job for them. The 2 girls working in the kitchen don't even try to make a smile when they see you. And don't dare even speak with Ina or the surf guides after "working times". In that moment the fake smile and the nice behaviuour will disappear in an instant, telling you "if you need tips, pay the surf guiding! (pretty expensive and useless for an intermediate surfer)". In any other real surf camp the guides really try to hold off all the locals to help you taking more waves Breakfast: if you can eat pancakes and banana bread for an entire week, good for you. Because there's no other choice. There's a review on Google about the austerity of the rooms: 100% true.

We regret to hear that your experience staying with Nalua was not up to your expectations. Nalua and our team strive to make each and every guest feel welcome and to get the best experience when staying with us. This in both the comfort of their stay and in how they get met by our staff. However we are surprised to see you leaving us a review about our surf camp when you in fact never took part in our surf camp. You stayed with us as a bed and breakfast without booking or joining the surf camp. This was also over one year ago from the date of leaving this review, which makes this review even more confusing. Our staff is always around and more than happy to befriend and talk to all of our guests. However when you book the surf camp package we do include trips and excursions as a part of the package. When you asked to join in on this, we had to say no as this is a part of the surf camp package which you did not join. This to respect the other guests that are joining the surf camp and in fact are paying for it but also in respect to our team. Our surf camp team are full time staff and have already been with us for a few years now. And yes they do this for a job but they also put their heart and soul into what they do. They love their job and we value our team highly. Our rooms are simple, clean and with great comfort. We are not a five star hotel and have never said to be. Pictures and amenities of our rooms you could see on our homepage before booking. We hope you enjoyed Lombok and that you got some good waves. All the best

I was doing a solo travel to lombok so I decided to do a surf camp to practice my surf beginner skills. At Nalua I was so very welcome since my arrival alone and on a new island. They ensure to take you to places you would never be able to surf and discover by yourself. The surf teachers were sooo pacient and professional! All the other staff ensured I had always something to do! And most of all ensured is impossible to be bored, sad or feel lonely if you do not want it. For all the above Terima Kasih Nalua (Ina, Mido, Amedh, breakfast lady and all the store staff)

I stayed for two weeks of guided surfing at NALUA Surfcamp and had a great time. The local surfguides had the knowledge of all the breaks around, made everybody feel happy and safe in the water. Can´t wait to get back there...

I spent around 2 weeks at Nalua for srufing and yoga. All the staff was super amazing, very open, helpful and friendly. It was always nice and great fun to chat with them. More over they did very thing they could that I felt at "home". Like: I arrived without luggage and they helped me out with everything I needed! And also as I had to change my plans it was no problem and they helped my right away. They made it a very wonderful time and I can't thank them enough - especially Ina!!! She was always there for me and did everything that I had a great time in Kuta! The rooms were clean, comfy bed and all you need. And during this 2 weeks I improved my surfing much more then I would have ever thought! You are at max to students for 1 surf teacher and they explain and help you so much. It was so amazing!

I stayed in July for a week and loved it. The team is great, the communal spaces are super nice and the rooms have all one needs. I started surfing with the Nalua's instructors and learned so much in my first week that I was hooked. A great experience all around!
