Very very beautiful falls, located in the same natural park as matayanku waterfalls (which require more trekking time to be reached). There is a parking fee, an entrance fee (very low for locals but very expensive for foreigners - an unjustified 150k IDR) and the mandatory local guide fee. The vehicle road access is definitely not the best, while the walk to the waterfalls spot is quick (10 mins) and easy (but not particularly well kept). You can swim under the falls, probably crowded only during weekends, in an amazing atmosphere. Facilities at the parking /entrance are in cement, which definitely doesn't help the beautification also given local material could have been bamboo with a little effort. As there is a fee and a guide you would also expect a bit more info / organization.

Great waterfall, considered easy trekking though some slippery rocks. Hot and humid for sure even in June. Love the long bamboo bridge, unfortunately can be a long wait if there is a big group because bridge can only hold 2 people at a time

It's another one of beautiful hidden waterfalls in Sumba Island. You must visit and explore this place. The water is so clear, clean and fresh.

Only a small walk to get to falls. Do wear sneakers for the walk as it can be a bit uneven.
You don’t need to pay for a guide to take you falls as it is 10 minute walk to it. When you get there you can have a swim.

To be honest, Lapopu is very nice waterfall in beautiful setting and you can get a good swim in the pool underneath. Anyway, it's overpriced for what you get! You pay parking fee, entrance fee, NP fee, guide (who cannot speak English at all!). So for the 2 people who arrived on the scooter, we paid maybe 40-50 dollars. It's 5 mins walk, swim in the pool under the waterfall and back = 30-45 mins total spent there. That's not Indonesian price!
We were originally planning to go to the other waterfall in the park (Matayangu) too, but when they asked for extra 20 dollars for the guide, we said thanks and left.

Apparently, the Lapopu price was even higher last year, but since many local tourists complained (there were many people from Jakarta), they dropped the price a bit. Still expensive as hell, but try to ask next year, it might be cheaper ;)

The waterfall was nice itself, but I have seen dozens like that around Indonesia. However, we were forced to pay 150,000IDR per person, even when we have KITAS. The guy on the gate was very rude and impolite. I do not recommend this place.

It is amazing to know that Sumba is known to be dry island in many aspects. But not here.
A great water fall 100 m over high to the river lapopu in a rain forest.
A great place for everyone but be careful when walking to the closer site of the water fall through a few bamboo bridge. Elderly person with difficult walking or wheelchairs are not recommended to go there.
