The "Pasar" is still the same as it was twenty years ago. With colorful fabrics and weavings from the Manggarai. With local fruits displayed colorfully and artistically. With live chickens waiting to be sold as live food. With freshly slaughtered meat waiting uncooled to end up in a meat pot. With spices, sugar, betel nuts and fish that come directly from the fisherman and 100 other things that we need.

Located over about 3 blocks along the western waterfront in the main city, Ende Markets offer the largest variety of handwoven fabrics in Flores. There are literally hundreds of stalls offering traditional woven scarves, sarongs and blankets from every region of Flores. The colours are stunning and some of the stalls have a huge variety to choose from. The prices will depend on your bargaining skills, so take your time to get your best price, but be respectful of the amount of work that has gone into every piece of fabric, most of them in isolated village traditional patterns. If you're a local you can recognise where people are from by what they are wearing.
The market also offers a large variety of fresh fruit and vegies, coffee, fish and all sorts of food produce, western clothing, luggage, hardware – actually pretty much everything you could want. It’s a big market with a great atmosphere, and very few tourists go there. We drank coffee, ate sweets, had lunch, bought food and coffee to take away, and found everyone very fair with their pricing.

It is an interesting market with wide array of colorful local products such as local fruits, vegetables and spices. Stop by a moment and you will be greeted by smiling local stall owners.
