Fun little surf - casual atmosphere

Nice to get out of Padang, over the hill and to a quieter place. Surf can be fun. I got a few waves on a mini mal that I brought. Pretty mellow day so crowd was low.

this place is really known for Indonesian as it's myth with The Legend of Malin kundang. A son from an old lady who went to Java and meet his wife. then, when he went back to Padang, he didn't recognize his mother. so his mother curse him to be a stone.

This Beach is very famous in Indonesia, because it has a legend story about Malin Kundang, the child who embarassed to admit his mother due to his mother is a poor woman. You can see the stone of the child at this beach. This beach has nice view, and of course, you can do surfing.

This Beach is about 20 minutes from Padang. It face to the Indian Ocean. This beach is popular because it is tied to Malin Kundang Legend. The black stone shaped like a boat was told as the boat of Malin Kundang who returned to his village. According to the legend the rich man disapproved and mistreated his mother and later... More

This is the beach where you can find the rock in the famous Indonesia's folktale Malin Kundang. In this folktale a man left his village, became rich, return to his village, disavowed his mother/mistreated her, and was turned to stone. The beach itself is just a typical Indonesian beach (not a white sand beach) and sadl not that well maintained.... More

very nice beach with malin kundang famous story, its unfortunate we came there when beach sand is not in good shape. I think the beach will be wonderfull if it completed by pure white sand.

We went relatively early in the day (10 am) during the week and had the beach to our selves, The sand is soft and quite clean, the water is warm and the waves are great to do a little body surfing. The admission to the beach is quite reasonable but then the parking mini mafioso show up asking for what... More

Good weather, a friend with her iPhone, coconut drinks. It is a simple day to layback and enjoy the view. When crowd is not much, parking and cleanliness is maintained, it does serving a great atmosphere just to relax and enjoy the scenery. Malin Kundang statue: Enjoyed the story of folklore when little, but seeing the spot, it does left... More

this was actually a great beach and have the Malin Kundang statue, an Indonesian folklore about a boy that forgot his mother and turned into stone. the stone-like-man were in bad shape because lack of government attention the beach was poorly managed because they control by local, almost like a thug or something, we have to pay for each gate...
