House Of Indonesia's Founding Father
Sep 2017 • Couples
Bung Hatta is the founding father of the Republic of Indonesia. His house of birth was built in 1860s. Bung Hatta was born in this house on 12 August 1901. The original house actually fell down in 1960s then it was rebuilt and inaugurated on 12 August 1995 to remember and describe the great man's childhood. Entry into this attraction is free of charge and you can still see the family's photo collection, family tree and very well preserved antique goods.

Amazing Birth Home of Bung Hatta
Jun 2017 • Family
This place is well maintained.
It was amazing to see one of the most influencing and powerful leaders of Indonesia's birth home. A must go for those history and museum lovers (like me) :p

An actual house
Oct 2017 • Couples
The museum is an the actual house turned to museum. The entrance is free and you can see the rooms (bed rooms, living rooms, kitchen, etc) that the former Vice President of Indonesia was born.
Some history and knowledge that's very interesting to know and learn.
I love the simplicity of the place.
I humbly recommend the place, especially who's into the history of Indonesia's independence.

This historical house is very clean and well managed. We can find the memorial of Bung Hatta collection here from photos until the furniture used to be used by Bung Hatta.

A Surprising & Lovely Visit to The Residence of Bung Hatta, our First Vice President .....
May 2016 • Solo
I stayed few times nearby the Museum Bung Hatta (an economist, the first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesiain) in Bukittinggi city centre, and this museum is not open for public. My city tour with a helpful motor-taxi driver coincidentally passed another Museum of Bung Hatta, its family residence.

I am very fond of history and a fan of Bung Hatta, surely you could imagine how happy I was when the female staff there welcomed me warmly there and invited me in. This historical residence is long unoccupied but open for public visit! The lady was very kind and informative, showing me around the compound house of this Rumah Gadang (a typical Minangkabau vernicular house) and explained these and those .... the poster bed where Bung Hatta's mother laboured in giving birth to him .... his bedroom & study desk .... his bicycle ..... the family kitchen and dining utensils on the dining table ..... the family barn ...... and the vintage style vitrage .....

On our way back to Jam Gadang area, we had to pass Pasar Dibawah where the driver took me to a great Warung (dining kiosk) of Nasi Kapau (typical Minang rice and few dishes of our choices). What a lovely morning in Bukittinggi.

Better outside than inside
Nov 2016 • Couples
A fine traditional building worthy of photographic record. Inside however the collection is appallingly displayed and largely unhelpful, uninteresting and tedious. There are a few worthwhile early korans, and a handful of weapons, and also agricultural tools that can be seen to better effect in the fields around about. There is also a collection of unnecessary and tasteless animal birth defects which have no relevance in this place, and would appeal only to those who like freak shows. The whole lot of these should go on a bonfire, or into a veterinary museum.

Visiting the house of Indonesian greatest hero
Nov 2014 • Business
I was lucky to have opportunity to visit the museum which is also the birthplace of Mr. Muhammad Hatta, when I was in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, at the end of November 2015. At this museum, I learned more the background of Indonesia's greatest hero, besides Ir. Soekarno, who had built the nation. Mr. Hatta's humbleness and kindness had already been practiced in the family's daily life. In the house that is not too luxurious, but neat, Mr. Hatta grew into an honourable figure eternally.

Silly combination of history and anomalies in nature
Aug 2015 • Couples
This small museum boasts a small and interesting collection of books and pictures from colonial times. But also a collection of biological monsters. Cows with two heads and the kind. This is an unexpected and unpleasant surprise

Well treated house
Aug 2014 • Family
If you're a big fan of Bung Hatta then this place is a must visit one. I personally am a big fan, so looking around into his birth place was so heartwarming. The place itself is almost the same as it used to be. It's still clean, neat and strong. A beautiful house indeed.

Learning History
Jul 2014 • Family
Mohammad Hatta is one of my idol. I was so curious to see what kind of life he had so he became one of the most respectful person in Indonesia. By visiting his childhood house, I learned his history. He was so modest, a simple man. He was not rich, you can see from the stuffs in his house. But he had a very bright mind. Make me love him more.
