Ngarai Sianok is another “a must visit” while you are at Bukittinggi. Located at the center of Bukittinggi city and not too far from “Jam Gadang”, you can expect to enjoy a nature valley with a lot of greeneries.
With entrance fee of IDR 15,000 per person for adult and around IDR 10,000 per person for child, you can enjoy the beauty of Sianok Valley.
The location has been preserve and well maintain, so you can enjoy the nature and taking picture with no disruption.
You can enjoy the valley from both sides (above and below), while you will be required to walk down the steps or drive your car along the road towards the river.
Highly recommended for those who loves nature.

I already visit this place at least three times, and it never cease to amaze me. The breathtaking view of the canyon, with mount Marapi as its background. We can see it all from a clean and beautiful park just at the center of Bukittinggi city.

The place itself is very nice and spacious, so no mass effect.
When you arrive to the sightview places, you really enjoy it: beautiful canyon, with the volcano in the background - if the good weather is with you, it becomes a very pictoresque place.
The sunset is nice, and just wait a bit to meet the bats!
Visiting the japanese tunnels offers an interesting alternative, especially if you get to the different view points inside the canyon. Don't hesitate to go :)

The road to get up there is rather winding and narrow. Try to go during non peak hours to avoid lorries and other vehicles. It's so lovely to see the trees and scenery on the way up. It' is worth the drive and to be mesmerized by the view.

A big wow when I saw the canyon in one fine morning. The sun brightly shined, the canyon looked stunning. So amazing!
And the wild monkeys played and jumped everywhere, tried to get attention from visitors to gave them some food.
Looking it from Panorama Garden was the memorable time for me while visiting Bukittinggi.
Take your time to visit this Sianok Panorama Garden in the morning just after breakfast, when the visitors were only few and you could take best photo shoots.
After that you could wander around and go down to see the Japan caves under.
Really reccommened attraction.

I visited this place as a part of my west Sumatra touring. This place is an elongated big valley near the side of Bukittinggi town, which has high vertical walls near the sides and a river with surrounding paddy field crossing inside the valley. You can get almost a 180 degree view from the panoramic garden at the town of Bukittinggi, which is located right on the edge of the valley cliff. There is a watching tower around the garden to get a nicer view.
If you continue you journey to Lake Maninjau from Bukittinggi town, the road will take you down to this valley to cross the river inside, you will get to see the valley from a different perspective.
