Recommended place to know well the history of makassar. Well maintain and staff friendly. Not far from the city center

This is the best of the historic cemeteries around the city. A good taxi driver should be able to find it. It is well kept, with a wonderful large shady tree to sit under, and the graves are interesting and varied. Some have lovely decoration. The caretaker is very well informed.

Some of the kings and sultans from the times of the invaders from the north lay here along with their families. Including Sultan Hasanuddin. Unfortunately pre the invasion from China is not covered here. Some are extremely old, over 400 years old, and you can see the different societal positions held warrants the styles and positioning of the mausoleums. There... More

The historical early kings of Makassar kingdoms are buried here at different times. The tombs have similar styles but are from different periods.Some are brick, others stone. the royal family continues to use this place
