Shouldn't have gotten my hopes up

We are in the area for three months and we were hoping to find a cool place to hang out. This was not the place. I felt the bartender didn't want to be bothered by us since he was eating his lunch at the bar and could barely muster up a "hello". Only stayed for one drink and had to grab lunch elsewhere. States they are "world famous" but I can't imagine for what.

World Famous Caballo Tavern

This is an awesome dive bar located one mile south of Caballo Lake just off I-25. About 15 miles south of Truth or Consequences and 60 miles north of Las Cruces for perspective. The rustic western interior is like a time capsule of a bygone era. Full bar, but cheap beers are the hallmark of this place. Jukebox, pool tables and bar stools round out the authenticity of a real saloon. Colorful cast of characters comprised of local farmers, ranchers and weekend boaters from the lake. The bartenders are a hoot too. The owner, Jim McNutt is an icon in these parts. You may catch him there once in awhile, usually on a Sunday. Don't miss it if you are passing through.
