Blue Lake was certainly unique and pretty. The sand dunes look legit and the lake was pretty! Do pack an umbrella if you go during the rainy season though. Climbing up the little hill beside the lake does give you some awesome views!

Drove from Canopi & reached this place late morning. We weren't so sure if we were at the right place. There was a shed selling some snacks & drinks & we parked our car there.
Although the whole place was deserted other than the 2 ladies in the drink stall, we decided to take a short walk since we are already here. We saw an area which was meant for archery but no one was there. There were some "camels" which are actually wooden plywood with camels picture on it. The whole area looked like an acre or two but definitely does not feel like a desert because...
1. The "sand" is not fine & rather like small pebbles.
2. If you look at one side, you see the roads with cars passing by. If you look at the other side, there is greenery. I guess because it was a "make do" tourist attraction thus lacks the feel.
We took some photos but avoid after carefully avoiding capturing the road & the greenery before making our way back to the car. The lady at the drink stall presented me with a bill for RP5000 (about 50 cents SIN).
The place is okay if you are trying to fill some programmes for your family but if you have a busy itinerary & needs to do away with a few, you can jolly well strike that off your list. My 2 cents worth...

The Danau biru (blue lake) that I visited is similar to the one listed here. I visited the Danau biru (blue lake) in the east, located near the Bintan Agro Beach Resort. It is not exactly a tourist location but it is a mining location. The minerals in the water made the water blue. The water is not suitable for drinking and swimming due to the high concentration of the kaolin mineral.

According to my local friend, this desert originally was a pile of sands that is transformed into a mysterious picturesque sand dunes.
It's a pity that the site is not currently managed & maintained by the local officials, as it hasn't attracted any significant tourism development yet. However, it has emerged something of an Instagramer's favourite lately !
It's not a must see attraction, but the beautiful landscape transporting you to a dreamy Arabian night may worth a visit!

When i googled for places of interest in Bintan, this was my first choice - all because of the blue pools in it. We hired a vehicle with driver from our resort in lagoi and travelled 40 minutes along small unscenic roads to this location. Entrace fee was idr10000 per pax. At the entrance there were stalls selling snacks and drinks. We walked past these stalls and were greeted by the dessert and blue pools. It was actually a long disused mining site. There were several pools but the bluest of all was located far in. The dessert and pools made for good photo opportunities with slopes and pinnacles. We had to walk up the slopes carefully to avoid slipping. Overall it was a good experience considering the fact that we don't have a real dessert in this region but the heat was overwhelming. Just be prepared for the walking. Must bring- sunblock, hats and even umbrellas.

This place is so beautiful. The colour of the water is amazing!Unfortunately it is not a place you can swim although they do have some on-the-water activities for children. Wonderful for photos, walking and viewing the scenery plus there are food and drink stalls.

This place is a must visit if you wish to take nice photos. One of the tourist attractions with many tourists and many good spots for you to great photos with your loved ones.
The only downside is that the place is sandy so be prepared to have sands getting into your shoes.

A nice place to take cool photos, looks like you’re in dubai, the place is only good for photos, like 45 mins away from the resorts. Good to go for a forst timer

Hi! Wish to check if there is entrance fees charges to mini Desert at Bintan? And is there other charges?
Thank you
Written December 27, 2019
Yes...entrance fee is 50k per adult..not sure for kids...and we were charged for taking photo with camel figurine and they state the price for each miniature...from my observation, no charges for big groups for taking pic at the miniature...kinda daylight robbery..not worth it...

Hello! I am planning to visit this on February next year but im confuse as to which ferry shall I book that will be nearest to the blue lake and sand dunes? shall I book the Tanjung Pinang or the Bandar Bentan Telani? and how many hours shall it took to drive to the blue lake and sand dunes from the ferry? I want it to be a day tour only? thank you!

If you don't stay in the resort area, you should book Tanjung Pinang.
