Never known that there is such museum di Surabaya ! The museum shows us the history of the “de Javasche Bank” which is now changed to Bank Indonesia and the place itself is the building of de javasche bank on colonial era.
Unfortunately I was here 1 hour before its closed, so the guide that guided me is a little bit lazy to explain things and at the end he stop half way (giving an excuse by saying “enjoy to take photo here, i’ll be waiting downstairs”), .
Fortunately, I was able to ask the guide who’s been guiding a group before me and he told me about how the security back then works, like they placed things like a huge mirror functioning almost similar like a rear-view mirror which is really interesting thing to learnt.

I Suggest you to visit in the afternoon, don’t visit this place 1 hour before it closed.

When I walked around Kia-Kia (Surabaya China Town), I saw this touris attraction in Google Map. This building was the central bank of De Javasche Bank Surabaya in colonial era. The tour guide told me this is not a museum actually, this is a cultural heritage building.

In this building you can see and also imaging how they ran the central bank back then. Do not hesitate to ask the receptionist how also the keeper and guide, about this building historical story. You can enjoy some old photograph of old time Surabaya in underground area.

To enter the building you should fill the guest book and with no enterance fee. I recommend you to come after you enjoy Kia-Kia. This building is side by side with Taman Sejarah and BNI building across Arcadia Hotel Surabaya operated by Horisson Hotel. The best time for visit is weekday, because there would a huge number of tourism/school group in the weekend

Came across this gem of a building, amazing architecture and stained glass when visiting the nearby JMP mall. Tells you quite a bit about the history of the Indonesian economy

This was once a functioning bank from the Dutch occupation to a number of years ago. Now it is a museum with old banking hardware and a small exhibition of old currency used in Indonesia...there is also the "old Dutch cctv"

It was super fun, I suggest asking for Tour Guide because there are a lot of information you could only get by listening to the tour guide. Beautiful architecture, and beautifully preserved too.

While the old De Javasche Bank is lovely to look at (both from inside and outside), do make sure you have a guide with you who can explain the bank's chequered history to you and point out all the interesting features. Well worth spending an hour of your day tour at the bank to have a look around and get a feel for Surabaya's history.

This beautiful building of neo-classical design of the Dutch colonial period is well-worth visiting. It is well renovated and the main banking hall is particularly fine with its Tiffany-style ceiling. It is fascinating to see the bank vaults and security features of this hotel.

Worth stopping here for 30 minutes if just to see the old vaults and novel security system involving mirrors. It's free, air conditioned and the staff friendly and helpful. Go upstairs to see the skylight....is a pretty building.

This museum used to be the central bank during the Dutch colonial era and is well maintained.

There is no entrance fee, but visitors were asked to sign in.
I don't think there is a guided tour, but the staff manning the front desk answered our questions knowledgeably.

It provides a glimpse into how a central bank operated and what kind of equipments / vaults they had.
They have a display of the paper money used to be in circulations, as well as gold bars. I wish that they had put not only paper money, but also coins on display.

The second floor was where the tellers were. It's a big room, with high ceilings for ventilation purposes, and decorated in the art-deco style.
