I went here with private trip in Surabaya (Trippy trip tour).

Went with My Indonesian friend Yuni when we were together and checked out the sites. Stayed at a hotel nearby. Going through that submarine i was imagining the guys at sea when it was in active service! What a feeling that must have been being under the waves when the submarine was doing active service for the Indonesian Navy.

On the river in the centre of Surabaya. The submarine was first launched in 1962. Can’t believe how thin it is. To walk through the submarine is not easy as you have to step through small circular gaps. Not for really old people or inflexible people.

A very nice experience. After being inside and have to crawl through the small doors you understand more about life in a submarine. Good parking nearby. Only 15.000 IDR entrance.

First time to see sub marine. And it’s located in the city centre. Big area of parking, food and drinks also are available. Just pay Rp 15,000/person for entrance. From front to back area of it, passing tunnel door. Bed for staff and mini room for captain. Very interesting to see and check it out when you are in Surabaya

One of the attractions in Surabaya while visiting to the capital of East Java.

1. The entrances connecting the different sections in the submarine has a height of about 1m. U need to bend at the waist to cross the entrance. Not advisable to wear short skirts.
2. Inside is cramp. There was only 4 of us and it was a comfortable space to look around. If there are more people, it would be congested.
3. It is aircon but tend to be stuffy in the afternoon and if there are many people in the submarine itself.
4. From end to end, we took about 15mins to walk the submarine.

This museum located in the heart of Surabaya and easy to reach. Good experience for children and adult as well. This submarine used to active in the era of world war II and nowadays become a museum. We can also see the film of the history of submarine in Indonesia.

I'm from states as well but spend usually 2 weeks at a time there to see my wife. talk to guides in area about 8 hr. siteseeing tour. war museum is great trip as well. Mt Bromo as well but that is several days long.
