It's a point of reference. A marker for the heroes who died for the country. Inside the compound consists of other point of interest like the 10th Nov museum.

A great place to visit to get a snapshot of the Indonesian revolution after World War 2 and a history of their heroes. The staff, who speak English, were excellent and were able to give a detailed account of each exhibit in the Museum.

I wish it offers more exhibition or displays about the heroic period of surabaya than it has. Sadly it is extremely hot during the day to walk around. It doesn't open at night.
