To enter inside the Mangkunegaran , must accompanied by the local guide, mostly the guide has well known so much about mangkunegaran, one thing that I surprised , we can go to the private location that in Jogja Kraton , its prohibited to be visited,

When we visited the city of Solo, we took the kids to visit Kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, as long as we are often invited them for a walk to the mall, so this is a pleasant experience for them.
Kraton Surakarta quite well preserved, in this place the kids can learn a lot and it becomes a valuable experience for them.

its close at 4pm. you better get there in the morning. the guard still wearing the old uniform like hundreds years a go. Batik, keris, blankon (head cover for man) , and their hospitality are unforgettable, Many item from the past King are still kept and well maintained., You should stay longer to know Solo and the history better.

I arrived late in the afternoon (2 15pm). The front desk sign says its open up to 2pm but the lady behind it said that its still good to go (after confirming with the person inside by phone). we got to the museum and was rushed out because they had to close it....couldnt see much..! Couldn't even go inside the palace!

my review on kraton mangkunegaran got switched to kraton surakarta, sorry for this clumsiness, kraton mangkunegaran is better managed compared to kraton surakarta, best time to visit kraton mangkunegaran is when it is about to close around 12,, since less visitors and you can take good pictures, dont bother to pay and visit the kraton surakarta, not much to see in their museums, and its not well maintained

Keraton Surakarta (Surakarta Palace) is supposed to be where the Sultan (king) and his family live. Have no idea about the condition where they live, but the part that open for public is in poor condition. Seems there is none or only a little attention and maintenance for a heritage like this.

This trip is kinda made me dissapointed, because the tourist only could enter the palace in a very little area, we couldn't enter the palace. And be careful if one of the abdi dalem in the museum that contains horse carriage offer you to took a photograph. Because its kinda scam, after the abdi dalem took the photograph, he ask for 30k IDR for donation, but he didn't mention that I must to pay for it before.
But aside from that, you could feel the presence and energy from this palace because of the palace still keeping its sacred state
you could enter this attraction for 10k IDR fee (local tourist price)

One of the major attractions of Solo, but I wouldn't bother if I were you. It's literally crumbling into ruin. Not as bad as the National Museum of Thailand, but certainly up there with the worst places I've been. Mould everywhere on the walls, poor exhibits covered in dust and basically, a sad reflection on the effort that goes into maintaining history in Indonesia. It does have a nice courtyard, however, and the part inhabited by the Sultan is kept in good repair (although cordoned off).
