since I was child...going to jakarta from this train station with my parents. with "matarmaja" train...a wonderfull memory remaints. now, this train station sill exist...with major change, but not drastically change. still remind my...childhood memories.

I arrived at this Station after taking the Malioboro Express Train from Jogja. There are many steps to go up and down before exiting it.
I shall use it again in a few days to travel from Malang to Surabaya. Hoping the train leaves and arrives on time.
Tips: Outside this Train Station are some monuments or sculptures and beautiful gardens that end at the Alun Alun Tugu. Be sure to visit them before leaving Malang!

The corridor is very small and also the Peron. It's quite dangerous if you walking to 1st Peron with many luggages especially bring a toddler.

To this small and busy station, we went the day before our train to trade our on-line vouchers in for actual train tickets. Stuck our head in the place where people buy tickets, shivered when we saw the long cure, and kept walking. Glad we did, too. The next room down provided a machine to print out our tickets, no waiting. A non-sense man took care of us in a minute and we were on our merry way. The next day, when we came a hour or more early before our train, we were happy that our train was there on the platform. We could enter the station easily, after scanning our tickets, and enter our train car to claim our seat. (Which was super nice because, as another reviewer noted, there are few seats in the waiting area. And it was crowded!) The whole process was easy, stress-free and customer friendly. Bravo!

Not too big and the waiting area need to add more seats. Veyr clean and well maintained. Outside the station you can find some shops and place to eat. While waiting you can walk around to the park cross the street or walk a little bit to Tugu Malang and Balai Kota.

almost every station in java are looks very old and classic because of dutch architectural influence. i think this station also looks and feels like that.
if you came to indonesia (jakarta) by plane and continue your travel by train from gambir station then you will stop in this malang station. some of backpackers came to bromo are came by train.

Been long time I didn't use train and go to the station, but I am happy that I got an invitation to Jogja..
Then when I am booking online ticker I went to the station and amaze with the new sistem.. and I love it..
On the day I am depart.. it ia a pleasure to see nice clean and comfort place on the station..
Really save..
And service by the station crew is great..

From Yogyakarta Your plan will go to Mt Bromo - Ijen crater and than Bali, easier you can use train and Transit in Malang/Mojokerto/Surabaya train station.

the station is small and busy.
the flow of passengers is good, but somehow unable to conveniently accommodate the crowd, particularly during holiday or peak season.
its rather difficult to drop off departing passengers as the parking lot is not many.
