MUST TO DO while in Borobudur, the best is during sunrise. It’s worth it to wake up early morning just a little climb up. The steps already has good pavement so very easy for beginner and some elderly. Once u get on the top be Zen..... enjoy the moment, be aware everything around you.... Enjoy…

This place offers a magnificent view onto the rain forest with a egg yolk alike sunset. The view was just so incredible that you will hope for the time to stop and indulge yourself into the view with your loved ones. The view down into the rain forest was also so perfect that it just brought me away from the busy life in town. Come enjoy the view even if you are non-photogenic…

The Setumbu hill is close to Borobudur temple (perhaps 15min drive). The entrance for foreigners is (as of Nov 2019) 50k IDR which I think is overprices for what it is. To get to the to the top is about 15min walk (paved walkway between the forest; not too steep) from the parking. There are many small shops along the way to the top. Once on the top you have many sitting areas, arrangements for taking pictures,... We went to the hill after visiting the Borobudur temple (perhaps it was 2 or 3pm). There were not that many people around in that time - less than 10. The views were really nothing spectacular. Despite clear sky and great visibility we did not see Borobudur temple from the hill. The chicken temple was clearly visible as it is relatively close by. We were done in like 20min with all the picture taking. The views (at least during the daytime) were underwhelming. Similar views (with cheaper entrance) can be experiences also from the Chicken temple and both places in my opinion can be skipped.…
