This is an old mosque just outside the biggest of the Kratons and by a parade ground. I did not go inside but you can get a good view of it from the street.

This is an old mosque and also a historical site, from outside you cannot tell its a mosque with a surrounding red wall around it. Inside the mosque there is a room that's door is very narrow and low to make you literally walk bowing into the room. Inside the spacious hall like room, there are some books, a wooden throne that is being covered with a white sheet, a place for one who seeks to meditate
What I don't like and feel sad about this place is that you'll be surrounded with beggars who persistently follow you around and also people who seems to be asking for money for everything like watching your shoes, pushed the money box in front of your face just when you barely finished praying
It is not a very convenient place if you just want to go there to pray

Grand Old Mosque in Cirebon, near Keraton Kasepuhan. Build about year 1400 and still have original wood block.

my last trip was in november and it was at 00:00 at night. and as a moslem i pray here and i get the chills over my body and have the most peace of becoming one.
subhanallah ... alhamdulillah..
and for ither ... this is one of the oldest mosque in indonesia, where all in place originally and you can have a sense of wonder and spirits are the power of all, this is a trully bless and a genuine experience to have.
the architecture are original from 1600 era, and you'll understand why they are very indeep with self and have a great understanding of being with nature and Allah SWT (the All Mighty).
best picture and landmark to shoot to.

im having my monthly period, so im not allowing myself to go inside of this mosque.
im just admiring it from the outside.
the reddish colour on the fence and main gate is unique colour for me.
from the building structure : i think the air inside the mosque is cool and cozy, making people who praying inside of it feel comfortable.
there are some souvenir seller in front of the mosque if you need to buy some.
after visiting this mosque, we can go to keraton Cirebon (Cirebon Royal Palace) by walking, it took only 5 minutes.
there are some beggars in front of the mosque gate, but they won't disturbe you

Unfortunately this old masjid seems are not well managed. It also has a mystical atmosphere maintained for the visitors. In fact, the interest of this historic property may be extended wider to attract many pious visitors.

Masjid Agung- the Great Mosque of Cirebon- is one of only two surviving fifteenth century mosques in Java. The other one is the Great Mosque of Demak, dating from 1466. This one is set on the alun-alun (town square) of the old royal precinct of Cirebon; the beautiful but run-down Kraton Kasephuan (Kasephuan Palace) is just across the road. This mosque features traditional Hindu emblems in the decoration of the outer walls (the island had only just converted to Islam at the time of its construction) and the roof is made of timber, which would then have been a plentiful resource on Java.

This is a special mosque as it shows Indonesia mixing and matching Hindu, Islamic and indigenous elements. The main drawback is that there isn't that much to see here, espcially for non-Muslims, as you aren't weclome inside. You can get a general sense of the construction from outside, but the high surrounding walls certainly limit the view.

your visit to Cirebon would not be complete without visiting this mosque. Sang Cipta Rasa Grand Mosque is one of the few old attractions that well maintained in Cirebon. The most special is the azan pitu held every Friday prayer. Try to drink water from the well, very refreshing. Don't forget to write a guest book and donate a small amount of money for the maintenance of this unique and remakrable mosque.

I came to this mosque earlier today for Friday special prayer. This mosque looked old but beautiful. All pillars are made of woods but still look strong and solid.
During the prayer this mosques was full of people. What was a little difficult here was to find a parking spot. Also a way out of this mosque area duw to there were so many tourist buses and cars parking.
One minor thing was there were many beggars around. Some of them were waiting in the front and after prayer there were some kids approaching asked for some money.
This place was really a peaceful place to pray. The architecture was still like what it was built I think.

This mosque is a witness to the history of the city of Cirebon, located in the northern part of the city of Cirebon, near the Kasepuhan palace and harbor of cirebon. The mosque is still maintaining its authenticity, especially the support columns of the mosque were made of wood, a small entrance so had to bend if you want to enter the interior of the mosque, as well as the walls are thick. Additionally during Friday prayers famous ritual call to prayer echoed by 7 people (Adzn Pitu). Best place for 30 or 45 minutes visit.
