Alun-Alun (Bandung City Square) is the fake-grass area next to the Grand Mosque of Bandung. There was no access on the Monday afternoon on which we visited the mosque, but we were able to see the expanse through the fence beside the mosque and from Jalan Asia Afrika. A shame, because the Square seems to be the only place to get a good pic of the mosque.

Bandung City Square originally is a real grass square separate place near Grand Mosque of Bandung. But it's now merged with Grand Mosque of Bandung, this 1,200-square-meter park is wrapped in synthetic green grass. People are gathering, playing, and have fun here. The square also has facilities such as a children's playground, library, and WiFi networks.

Local people still say this place as Bandung City Square, even though physically there is no separate square anymore, but become part of the mosque. So if some people say this place as Grand Mosque of Bandung + City Square, it's reasonable :)

An area of more than a thousand square meters, suitable for relaxing with friends and family. With synthetic green grass, easy to reach from any direction. But remember, this place is often jammed at certain hours. Especially on Saturday Night, along the road Asia Africa is closed for the Car Free Night event. Be careful when in the crowd, keep your items in a safe position from pickpockets. #batulocalguides #letsguide

This place usually gets crowded especially during weekends, so unless you want to blend with the local crowds, try visiting at other times. Within walking distance from the Braga style and its authentic art deco buildings, Sudirman street with its famous cuisines, and is just in front of Bandung Grand Mosque - tip: try visiting one of the two towers to get an aerial view of this square.

Smelly place. It becomes a sort of extension to the mosquee. Why no normal grass? Not recommended...

This one is popular among the local for some reasons perhaps foreigner may not fully comprehend....there are public park and myriads of street vendors on foot in the surrounding area, while across the street towards PLN building there are street performer dressed up as Transformer, ghost and other characters. Across from PLN there is an old building ex-Dutch colonial era, perhaps of interest to those who like architectural stuff, this building has been re-enabled and now is a bank.

The square also provide a background selfie opportunity, but that's about it.

I don't really enjoy this one as it's not a striking as other attraction Bandung has to offer in terms of tourist spot, but again the locals like it a lot.

A great place to play and enjoy your time with family and friends especially in the morning and afternoon. Green carpet stretches, so don't forget to take off your shoes before step in.

Functionally, it serves also as the Square for the Great Mosque. It suitable for ranges of outdoor activities, either sports or even big discussion, as the grass made from synthetic grass. But due to this condition also it would be best to visit it not during afternoon as it will be to hot for bare foot. You may not use any slippers or shoe on the grass.

If you need to purchase snack or things the management provide stalls/stores at the basement level. You won't find any stalls on the surface or street level.

Usually at night there's a local Night Festive Market open on the empty field on the east side of the Square, just go across the East Side Street.

If you like being in a center of a city and feel the warmth of all families there surrounding you you'll like it here! You will have to be bare footed and carry your own shoes (just in case there was some sandal thief). People are selling you bubble blower and sometimes it was worth it to buy it (I did). It seemed well kept! Last time I was there it was forbidden to bring food in avoidance of staining the grass carpet (CMIIW). It'll usually be crowded every weekend from afternoon to evening so be prepared.
